No, that's the DEA not the IRS.... I told ya man, you really need to quit dealin'......
I'm registered as a Democrat in my state, though I rarely agree with them. To me it's the best way to have an effect on politics in my state. I can help the best Democrat in the primaries and then usually vote for the Republican in the final vote. (A friend of mine registered as Independent, hoping he'd be able to vote in anything, but all it did was take him out of the primary process.)
Really I hate that you have to be labelled at all to use the system. I'm conservative in some areas, liberal in others, and lean more toward authoritarian than libertarian.

i totally agree with u teq. ohio is one of the only states left that only alows u to vote for one party in the primaries. it sucks. we should be ale to chose whoever we see fit for every party in the primaries. after all, the dude running has a good chance of being our next president, and we don't even have a say in the one parties canidate. i think that is absolute crap

Um, no.
The party gets to decide who its candidate for President will be, and that involves letting the registered members of that party vote.
Everyone is more than welcome to run independently, but it's not fair to let Democrats or Green Party members to decide who the Republican party chooses as its candidate.

yea, i know that, i know how it works, but we influance the vote. most states have open primaries, thats what i want. lets say i am a registered democrat and i end up liking the republican platform better. i can't have a say in who runs for the republicans in the election, i find that ****ty. my point is, in the presidential elections, u can voteforever u want, in the primaries, u can only vote on party lines. i see the point of only voting on party lines in a election (other party can try to get the ****ty opposing cantiate in the race to make it easy for thier guy to win if it is open), bt most people don't vote on party lines alone nemore and i don't think there will be that huge of an influance from the hardcore party guys to sway it majorly. it mainly pisses me off cuz i am an independent, i have no say in the 2 big party guys. i am prolly gona register as a democrat because they have a more diverse grouping and are the only ones really having primaries for the next election. i do think the closed system is good, don't get me wrong, but from my point of view, i would like to try to get the 2 best major party guys in there, and i can't. people would abuse it, and thats the problem, but i wouldn't. closed it will stay till people get a clue and stop being so damn greedy.

actually, after further thinkin, i take back my last comment, closed primaries r better in practice, but open r more appropraite for a true representitve democracy, although they won't work as they r ment to

About the primaries. If you are registered as a democrat and like a republican better, vote for a democrat you think doesnt have a chance of winning against the "strongest" republican, therefor if he makes it to the "finals" he doesnt have as much of a chance. That is why people register on the opposite side a lot of times.
