It's funny that kids your age label themselves as liberal or conservative. You know NOTHING about politics regardless of the class you take in freshman year of high school or what you hear from RL on the radio...
I'm conservative, for the record.

Uh, I'm 15 and while I don't know everything, I know enough. My 7th/8th grade social studies teacher would hold political debates for a class period or two, and he taught us tons. I didn't agree most of the time, but I got to see a different view point. I honestly don't know why you made that post, Mike. It's not like when you are 17 or younger you are ignorant, and as soon as you turn 18 all of this knowledge of politics floods your brain. Not to mention young people get political info from the same sources as older people. So while no one my age (15) is an expert, we definately know the basics...Or I should hope people my age would.
Oh yeah, I'm generally a Conservative. Can't agree with it all, but I agree w/ a majority of it.

Most people of any age know absolutely nothing about politics and find themselves as a "conservative" or "liberal" based almost exclusively on socioeconomic status. I was "politically active" at 15 but now I realize that I really knew exactly nothing and just echoed the ramblings of Rush and Reagan I occasionally heard. Trust me, you know nothing. You won't get a rush of knowledge at 18, but soon enough you'll realize it takes a lot more work than you know to know anything at all. Read Chomsky and Coultier, listen to Rush. You simply don't have enough experience with life to make any real value decisions. 15 year olds hate hearing that they don't know jack about jack, but them's the breaks.
In any case, in reference to the poll, I think there need to be a few more options. Many people don't even realize that there are alternatives to those two labels. For example, I generally find myself associated with the Libertarian point of view. That puts me firmly on the "conservative" side of most economic issues and "liberal" side of most societal issues. For example, I'm heavily in favor of legalizing illicit drugs, but I'm also heavily in favor of curbing taxes and restrictions on business practices.
I'm also a big fan of the Constitution and I'm regularly awe-struck at how much the goverment completely ignores it. Sure, it's outdated in many ways, but that's why we have Amendments. Don't like it, fix it, don't ignore it.

I am 14 and Im definatly conservative. I watch the news all the time. I watch all the channels too, FOX, CNN, MSNBC, NBC. I definatly have to say parents influence you a lot. But I try to form my own opinions. I like to get into debates especially with my friends that are not knowledgeable at all about politics. So I dont think it is right or accurate to say all of us kids dont or cant have opinions. My B****ing is over

you kids are silly. You are almost all under 16 years old. You have no idea what you think. I have been a debator for the last 4 years and have read more casefiles then you know exsist. The idea that you can label yourself conservitive or liberal when you don't know what the government has happening.

yea we definitely need a libertarian option. Im in favor of what conservatives do as far as taxes and business stuff, and I dont know if libertarians are, but I would vote for a libertarian on the issue of legalizing illicit drugs alone.

Well first off, it is arrogant and stupid to think that minors know less about politics then anybody over 18. I know more about politics then alot of adults and I am 16. I have long political talks with my dad friends teachers and take a few classes as well as debates. It is very, very ARROGANT to say that teens uner 18 don't know about politics. That is very broad and very stereotypical. I bet I know more then 50% of adults. Now on the other hand, there are kids that listen to Anti-Flag and bands like that whom corupt the youth by implmenting their views into catchy songs.
And Tinytim, I can see what you are doing. If someone doesn't agree with your views, then you simply mark them off as a minor that doesn't know anything. I'd challenge you to a political debate any-day.
Conservative for the poll.

About the poem i wasnt saying if you like it you know stuff i just thought it was interesting. And i didnt make this thread for people to get flamed and for people to argue, if i wanted to i would have said which is better, or, do kids know what they are talking about, I simply made it to see who thought what and how old they were things like that, A survey you may call it.

Well, I don't want to offend you, but you misspelled politically in the poll options. The fact that the only two choices are conservative and liberal make it completely worthless because it's a much more complex issue than that and most people who know what they're talking about don't fit into either.

Is that all you can come up with for your arguement? So what if he only did to politial choices. it is his poll and those are the 2 major sides (combined they are about 85%+ of what people are).
Im sure if you were still young you would take our side. Some of us know what we are talking about. Stop sterotyping. You most likely know more but we are not complete idiots.
