Im not talking about patriotic things. I'm talking about selfish merchandisers, who immediatly following 9/11, began to label objects "Made in the Home of the Brave" just to sell them. Some stuff I can understand, some flags, some bumper stickers, but a LOT of companies took advantage of the situation. I read somewhere that, in the weeks following 9/11, more than 300 companies "sprang up" with new names, like Great American Insurance, and to me, that is a scam. People WERE taking advantage of the situation, and for those people, I have nothing but the greatest of loathing.

if anything like that ever happened to canada, my family would be donating money there too. What really bugs me is that people think that because we have the best technology, the best army/navy, the most money, etc, that we dont care to lose 3000 lives. They think that it is a big joke that our firefighters had to pull out pieces of dead people in the rubble, had to see the people that were burned so extremely bad to death, to see their fellow firefighters lying in the rubble too, but its not a joke, and like you said, its a wake up call that this can happen to anyone

I hear what your saying. I gave up $72 to the charities after 9/11 (It's all I had) and my family gave more too. I would be fighting in Iraq right now if I was old enough and I would have no regrets.

yea you are definately right there, i also noticed that in almost every commercial, the company associates themselves with the flag or the US or something else, when its really not necessary.

i visited ny in june and saw ground zero... man it was hard to take it in when i saw the huge gap in the middle of the buildings and the block of street with no buildings... i wont EVER forget that day (sep 11) and wont ever forget what the Talaban did to our country, only one small good thing came out of this, we got a wake up call telling us we werent perfect and couldnt be touched, and the for the canadians i like them but the brits and europeans can just shut the hell up! ... wait untill they get attacked and loose 3000+ people killed...

yeah if it had happened to canada.. i probably would have bene more alarmed.. and it would happen in Ontario ( most population province.. most likely in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and i have relatives there. so i mgith be effected by that too..

but it wouldnt happen to canada.. canada is on the side lines.. we mind our business and get on with trying to get stuff under control within our country.. where as america does have a tendancy to take things over the borders.. as in deal iwth stuff out side of their country.. not neccessary a bad thing. but it definitely has some effects...

its not that they think that you dont care to loss lifes.. its that this massive terrorist attack happened to you.. In most countries.. the opinion of americans is of arrogance and what not.. (cant find hte words i want...) but whatever since it happened to american it really seemed to put them in their place.. and showed them that they arent that superior and what not...

and that was the point of the attack.. it wasnt to create a large loss of life.. it was to completely and uddering kick american in the nuts..

if they wanted to take life they would have crashed into some nuclear power plants or into a studium at super bowl or something..

sure the loss of life was a bonus to them (helps get the point across) it wasnt what they were aiming for..

do you have any idea of what america would have done if they sent a plane into a nuclear power plant? America's policy is "if you nuke us, we nuke you ten times harder" afghanistan would be a massive radioactive crater

so when afghanistan is a steaming pile of waste.. you just ruined a vast sorce of oil.. opps, i think we needed that?

(if i recall correctly) after wwII it was agreed that nukes would never be used in war.. and if they were it would be the complete last resort...

so if they did nuke afghanistan.. not to many people would be too happy about that.. enemies and allies of the US...

but also.. i swear.. america is going to be the death of the planet.. do you have any idea how horrendous the effects of a nuclear power plant being destroyed would cause...

think about this.. most nuclear power plant are on rivers or other bodies of water.. for cooling purposes and such.. so right there when that plant blows or leaks.. the fall out it right into the source of all life.. the water.. rivers flow, spreading the fallout.. evapouration.. sure the fallout might be too dense to evapourate with the water. but it will get into the atmosphere..spreading even more.. within weeks to months.. a vast part of north america would be ****ed..

a retalitaion would accomplish nothing at all... it would make it worse.. you turn afghanistan into a pile of waste (nuclear waste) from the bombs.. you are only speeding up the process of the fallout out from effecting the whole planet.. by starting it and other areas..

fallout out never goes away.. if you told half life you would know that it just gets smaller but never goes away.. and also it takes a logn time for that stuff to get to a inhabitatal level...

basicaly the world would have seen doomsday right there..

(oh and when american sent nukes to afghanistan.. some neighbouring countries would get a little pissed and do some launching of their own.. )

so yeah, if the terrorist really did want to cause some serious hell they would have done somethign like that.. but thankfully the terrorist were smarter then that...

i dont want to go too of topic, but the problem with the french is that they are stubborn. They were more than happy to get help from the allies in WWII. and prevent a dictator from taking over the whole eastern world, but when we want to free iraqi people from a man that kills and rapes woman, kills children, kills innocent people, makes mass graves and torture chambers, the french seem to forget what it is like under that kind of rule, and back out. Then they have the nerve to think that they are somehow better than us, and we are jackasses.

and we wouldnt nuke afghanistan or iraq because we would kill innocent people who have nothing to do with the war and even support america

D Smalls- I didnt say I support that policy, I just said that no one in their right mind would try to nuke america, because they all know very well they they will have their asses blown to bits. Just look at how much more damage america did to afghanistan with bombs and stuff than the terrorists did with the planes... its far heavier. If it had to do with radiation, someone would be screwed.

Also, i read a whole book on fallout and nuclear war. If a nuke hits near you, the fallout is down to a non fatal lever within weeks. If you filter your water and air wherever you are you are fine as far as radiation goes (even right after impact) The people who have the biggest problems are kids, because they are short, and radiation tends to stay near the ground (you want your vital organs above the bulk of the radiation) If you have any canned food, and even food with skins, you can simply eat whats on the inside.

And NNY- I can almost guarantee that america would do something extremely drastic if someone messed with us on the nuclear level. Even if it isnt sending nukes over, it would be massive bombing on whatever country was ever supporting terrorism.
