Reccomend some good books. I just got done reading Flyboys, I really liked it. I think some of you interested in flight and WW2 might also, I think Bubbajr would enjoy it. It's descriptive and really well written. Good book

Anything by Terry Pratchett. He wrote a series of books called the Disc World. It's comedy fantasy. There's no need to read them in any order.
Keep your eyes open for the Luggage, it's a magic trunk that follows it's owner around on hundreds of little feet. It also has teeth and a tongue, used to defend itself.

the hobbit
lord of the rings
Salems Lot - Stephen King (about vampires, really well written)
Silverwing & Sunwing - Kenneth Oppel (im not sure how old you are.. you might find these kind of little kidish.. but i think they are really good still if you do read them.. read silverwing first then sunwing. Btw.. its about bats.. not like scientific or anything but the main characters are bats.. its all about them trying to figure out whats going on with the bands that humans have given them and if its part of a profacy (sp) for them to retake the light of day.. in the story its says that there was a great battle between birds and beasts and bats never fought so they were considered cowards and banned to the night.. its really cool
The dune Series By Frank Herbert
in order..
Dune
Dune Messiah
Children of Dune
God Emperor of Dune
Heretics of Dune
Chapterhouse Dune
6 amazing books.. its a sci-fi story.. you mave have heard of the computer games or the movie..
But they are simply amazing.. i think heretics was the best one.. and chapterhouse was really good too..
Airsoft guy was a big fan of these books as well
i HIGHLY recommend these books.. be prepared though.. itll take a while to read this series.. 6 books each no less than 400-500 pages

500 pages is nothing for a book. Most books I read are 1,000 pages or so and mostly about vietnam and WW2, none of that kid ****. And I'm 17 Smalls

At the moment, I'm re-reading The Two Towers I borrowed from a friend. Great book.
The Hobbit wasn't bad, LotR series I think is a little better though.
I'm hoping to read Tolkiens Beastiary soon, if I can find a copy from somewhere.

Wow, I have read so very many of them. I have some about marines, army, pathfinders, pilots, navy seals and snipers. My favorite book out of all of them would be 'Gunner Up'. It's the first hand account of a marine who was a machine gunner in vietnam. I really liked it.

im not judging the book by number of pages.. im just saying its going to take awhile to read them..
and it not only sci-fi.. each book has a bit different theme..
there is a lot of war and fighting in them too..
it takes place WAY in the future and there is this planet (Dune) that has this spice that grows there.. its additve and it turns you eyes blue.. but this spice is very expensive.. so a bunch of house (leading planets) travel there to try and take it over.. because if you control the spice you would basically control the universe..
adn so its the house battling for the planet.. but at the same time the native race there has a profacy about a god coming to them and that god.. one fo the characters.. and then the one house gets destroyed.. and the last remaining member this god guy fight back and regains control..
then its about him ruling and people trying to kill him and all this stuff..
argh no point in explaining.. the post would be incredible long.. but yeah you siad your not into "kid ****" the dune series is certainly not "kid ****" no kid would understand and its cery graphic and and a couple of the books it has very sexual "scenes" in it..

I really liked "catch 22" and "catcher in the rye"
Also any books by J.D. Sallinger are good. I read a lot of books so believe me those are good choices.

One of my favorite books of all time is The Catcher in the Rye, it is just a classic. It's not one of those sappy happy ending books either. I also like stuff by John Douglas, though he requires a particular interest in the subject. Nevil Shute's On The Beach was a great book, shows what could have happened during the cold war.

Hehe, I guess you liked it too. Weird, two people had the same thought at the same time.
