Miatas come stock at 140, geared stock. With that happy meal clutch I could hit closer to their. I'm putting turbo chargers, blowers, exhaust, intakes, comp chips, fuel systems, anything for speed. I know it won't be easy, but at the same time, it's also going to be a regular car. I have to disagree, though, about how you called a miata a slow piece of crap. They are EXTREMELY small, making that four cylinder VERY efficient. My only problem is weighing the car down with upgrades. But yes, I know what you're thinking, but think of this. A v6 mustang does 120.......... *I know, my step sisters mustang *did* that *she wrecked it* a four cylinder miata does 140 geared stock. See the difference? Which is cheaper and faster????
Miata. Not flamin, just tellin what I think about it and that's kind of why

Really, I aint gonna be street racin or anythin......*maybe* but seriously, little cars such as miatas handle really well because they are so light. But you are right, but they are not slow slow, just not as fast as the other guys. Oh well, miatas are still fun cars....... I aint worried about winnin street races because I don't want my car taken away, I just want a playtoy/high school pimpin miata. Plus, I'm tired of people in crappy old cars with spinnin rims actin like they're cool.

also keep in mind the mstang would kill the miata on the strip. miatas are geared high, and becausse of that they dont take off fast. mustangs are muscle cars and will take off fast from the line

Someone in my mustang had a miata bably blue *she* had racing gears in it and it was fast. But the mustang we gave to sarah was just a 120 miles per hour car. I like the mustang and if I had it I would have beefed that up but sarah wrecked the stang. So I'll get a cheap car. Miatas are fast and cheap. Not very, just enough. I'm not gonna want to street race, just play around at the local stretch. Like I said, fun car.

If you're not going to street race it, I wouldn't put that much money into it. You obviously won't get it back. If you want a little speed, just try tossing a small turbo on it. No more than 8 or 9 pounds of boost, and a spool RPM of about 3500. You can still keep your fuel economy during regular driving, but you get an extra kick when you really get into it. The turbo won't begin pushing boost or "spooling" until you reach 3500 rpm. During regular around town and highway driving, you should shift at or before 3000 RPM. Now if you want a fast car, get yourself an f-body. Otherwise, you'll just be a light snack.

What do you mean I won't get it back?? If you think I'm gonna street race with my car title hell no. I meant that if I get caught my car will be taken by my parents. Other than that, thanks for the info.

I didn't mean the car itself, I meant the money. I'm building an F-Body (Camaros, Firebirds) right now. When done, it should get into the low 10's to high 9's. And it'll eat just about any rice-cake out there for breakfast. Hence the "light snack"

there are a lot of heavily modded civics out there that can tear up most stock muscle cars. Those are the only civics i can respect

Few things...
1.)(As has been said) You say you're not going to race it, so why blow all the money?
2.)I'm guessing the Mustang was one of the crap ones...Not like a Cobra or anything. That's why it could only do 120.
3.)Why care about a car that handles when the only street racing you would do would be 1/4 miles? You're not in the Le Mans, here...
4.)As said, put a smaller turbo in it. If you put a big one in, it can actually be slower than a smaller, because the smaller 4 cyl. exhaust can't spin the bigger turbo.
5.)I would have picked up a cheap Corvette...But that's just me. Or maybe an Eclipse (I liked them before TF&TF)...Or if you had some money, a Lancer Evo.

Nah, my car will not be very expensive. About 5000 at the most.
Yes, the mustang was just a regular mustang, no cobra or other.
I want the car to handle just because I am going to play with the car. I probably won't put all that on it, I will probably put the looks and beef. I just want to have a fun car. I may do the stretches in collinsville just to get a general idea of how fast it will go. I'm not saying it will haul or anything, it's just a fun car.

Nooooooooooo, from what I've heard, the miata boggs down, another words, it just like boggs down and it needs a better jump off the line. I know how to drive. I think it needs a weight reduction and springs but that's just me.
