when making fun of somebodies race as a joke what is going to far? ( i made fun of this chinese kid yesterday and now all ova sudden all these peeps hate me.)

dont make fun of other peopel unless ur friends with them, or u want people to hate you.

me and my friends make fun of each other for being white, black, or brown. its all in good fun and we know it.

if some black kid called me a cracker i would drop that jigga so fast he wouldnt understand how fast a white kid can move.

same thing if i called some black kid a ni**er then hed probably try to kick my a$$.

PERSONALLY, i think its all out of hand, people are too sensitive. black folk can call other blacks by the "n" word, but white peopel cant. i find it annoying if a white person or a black person called me a cracker, so im equal in that sense. wouldnt it make sense that since in this equal nation a white person can say what a black person can? if not then noone should say it at all.

Dear God, this is going to turn out to be one of those crappy political debate threads.

I don't like the way my ICA teacher thinks -- he thinks that as long as you're a minority, you can't be racist. Me, being Chinese, can call that kid that sits across from me a ****** in that class without getting in trouble. I dunno, being raised in an Asian family makes me racist =P I guess most of you wouldn't know though, you're all white.

It's hard to draw the line. If the person KNOWS you are joking, then I think nothing should be left closed. In comedy everyone is a target for humor. That's why it's funny to most people. But that's when they KNOW that you are just joking (like if you're a stand up). Even then though, there's certain things that shouldn't be touched. I'm not saying no mentally retarded jokes, or no racist jokes, but I'm saying you have to watch how extreme you go. It's a really fine line.

i agree with jin, there are many things that can upset people too, and it depends on the mood the joke was said in and what type of people are there.....a fine line.

most of my best friends are black the ones i knew since i was a baby and i call them my cotten pickers and they dont care they no its all in fun.But they wouldnt dare call me a terrorist...lol

Too far is really only how the person recieving it will take it. If someone you are friends with, and you always joke around with them about them being a different race, and they know you are joking with them it is cool.

If you are joking around with a black kid and you say like "Go grow me some cotton" or something, yes, that is racist, but not nearly bad as saying "I HATE N___ERS!!!!".

Or you could just not make racial jokes at all!

Well, I grew up in the detroit area my whole life so Ive always watched what I said. The best thing to do is just not say racist jokes at all. You may be joking, but you could end up getting shot.

On a more serious note, its alright if you're friends and know its in jest. My honduran friend and I always make racial comments towards one another, its all in good fun.

like the people above said, unless you are that race or they are a good friend, then you are going too far. I make fun of how extremely white i am all the time, and i can joke around with my black friends, but even with them i dont go too far because anything can be taken the wrong way.

i personally think you shouldnt make fun of anything like that (race religion) unless your of that type...like a white cant call a black a ******...but a black can call a black a ******...same for cracker with whites...you get the idea
