My definition of a ricer is "all show and no go".

Word. I want a 300ZX Turbo too. They're actually not that much. You can find them on eBay for pretty low, except the problem with that is you have to find one near you (or pay a ton for shipping). I found basically exactly what I want on eBay (near me, too) for $5000. Too bad I don't have $5000...

Insurance would pay off, sure, but usually when your Ferrari is totaled (especially vs. an escalade), you don't walk away.

I consider a ricer, for the most part, anything with "more show than go". However, there are some very fast cars that are still ricers. Usually I call anything with absolutely ridiculous modifications (i.e. fake sponsor decals) a ricer.

I'm used to the people who think that if your car doesn't have eight cylinders or a plant volume of 350 cubic inches or more than its a "ricer."
There seems to be a predujice against any car that doesn't fall into the category of "muscle car" as being a ricer. The same holds true for someone who has a great car and bodykits. For example, I plan on buying a Focus SVT when I can afford it and putting a T3/4 hybrid turbocharger on it, in addition to this Evo front body kit I found (see image below, I just want the front bumper and maybe the runnerboard kits.)
Now I would expect most people to label a car that looked like that as a ricer. Not true; the Focus SVT out of the factory has more preformance parts than most "GT" car models, and with the addition of the turbocharger it would give most muscle cars a run for their money.
I guess what I'm getting at is I have a problem with people who label cars with body graphics and bodykits as ricers before they actually know what it has under the hood. What's wrong with having a car that looks good and is still high-preformance?

body graphics, rear spoilers, and bodykits are all so gay.
doesnt matter what it has under the hood...all the above things make a car a "ricer" and ricer is just another word for GAY
a totally pimped out muscle car will work a totally "pimped" out ricer any day of the week

See, there you go, labeling anything that isn't a muscle car as a ricer. There is a difference between a ricer and a compact.
A muscle car might win in a straight-drag race. Add some curves and a compact will kill the muscle car just because of its shorter turning distance, faster braking and the ability to drift around corners. Of course, you probably fall into the category of "your car doesn't have eight cylinders? Its a ricer..."
Would you label this car as a "ricer?" This is a factory Focus SVT:
Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying its impossible for cars with bodykits, etc. to be ricers. I'm saying that not all cars with the above are ricers. Like I said, what's so terrible about having a car that both looks good and is high preformance? Sure, it might be cool to smoke someone in a road race when your car looks like ass, but I wouldn't mind having my car look good too.

yea..and i cant really argue about the "looking good" part...i think bodykits are the gayest thing in the world, but if you like them then go for it, just be ready for me to make fun of you when you pull up next to me
the new mustang svt cobra is by no means defenseless in the curves department...i use the cobra for an example because its cheaper than an upgraded ricer and is a good example of a modern muscle car. i bet the cobra can out handle many a ricer in the swoops and on the straightaways on that track itll blow them away
and...how often are you racing a curvy area? when your street racing you are doing straight-line drags

well 5.0 Mustangs don't have 350 ci, and nobody calls them ricers
and no, not everything that isn't a muscle car is a ricer. it's just ridiculous when these little asian boys get these grocer-gettin' economy cars, put a fart can, cold air intake, asinine wing and body kit that isn't even painted, a sticker here and there, lowered so it the wheels (of which only 1 or 2 are aftermarket; for the others they took off the hubcaps and left just the black wheel) so it looks like the car is trying to do the splits, and think that they can beat anything and everything on the road. when they find a car that actually wants to waste the gas on racing them and they lose horribly, they do the infamous "ricer fly-by", so they can brag to their friends that "well he got me off the line, but then the vtec kicked in and i was gone!!!!1one". THAT is a ricer.
and IMO, that body kit is horrible too. there are only a few tasteful kits, and that ain't one of them.
oh, and don't pull the bull**** "If there are curves..." argument, who do you know races on a road that has curves enough to actually matter? everybody drag races cuz not everybody races on indycar tracks.

Its a simple exercise in size and mass: a car that is both shorter and weighs less can execute a turn faster than a heavier/longer car. I don't have anything against the Mustang Cobra, I just couldn't see myself buying one. For starters it would get terrible gas mileage (a supercharged V8 would guzzle gas) and I don't like the current generation of Mustangs, the '05's are a different story (as in I wouldn't mind having one, but I still wouldn't buy one.)

supercharged V8's don't guzzle gas. granted, they don't get 30mpg like a econobox, but its not like you watch the gas gauge drop as fast as the speedo rises

um,for one thing, thats 650 hp at the crank, not at the wheels.and for 2..cobras weigh more than a city bus..dont get me wrong, its a very fast ride, but the power to weight ratio compared to rice burners means it will get smoked.

....right...like Shelby will make a car that will be smoked by a ricer. that is the most ignorant thing I've ever read.

Remind me again what the IMO tag means?
I guess since I don't conform to your opinion, I'm "gay" or "stupid" or whatever you want to label me as. Fine, go ahead, I'm used to being labeled like that because I don't go with the crowd. Nothing new to me.
I define ricer as a car that has the accessories but has no balls. Like someone who puts the bolt-on spoiler and an exhaust tip on an otherwise factory Honda Civic and says its badass.
Of course, I'm sure you convientiently ignored the part where I said I was going to put a turbo in my car when I get it and just went straight for the "I like this bodykit."
Oh, and I'm still waiting for an answer as to whether or not the factory Focus SVT is a ricer to you guys (see the above picture.)

actually me and a few girls were getting driven to a movie by some like older brother or something, and i was talking to him about his car, it looked like a white 00 civic with the only thing changed being the taillight. It also was lowered an inch and had all sorts of engine mods and stuff, turns out he was able to get it up to 400hp, yes a 4 cylinder, no new engine or anything. The funny thing is it looked just like every other honda.
