yes you are ignorant, cuz if you've read this thread at all, a ricer isn't just a *** car, it's ALL SHOW AND NO GO.

and having cars w/ = power isn't the only thing. you can have a super high-powered engine, but if it isn't built right, it won't make it halfway down the track. if you haven't upgraded the drivetrain/suspension, you'll either never hook up or run into the wall. if you don't know how to race, then you'll lose whether the other car is slower or not. I'd still take a 650 rwhp Hemi Charger, cuz nothin' says power like popping a wheelie in a car. and a 4 banger with 650hp just screams POP BOOM CRASH. not to mention the weak torque output.

Did it ever occur to you that a car that weighs far less than a muscle car doesn't need nearly as much power to go the same speed? Or that a lighter car requires less energy to move opposed to a heavier car?

The reason the GT is so expensive is the original GT40's track record at LeMans, as the only car that won the race four years in a row. The officials in charge actually went as far as to attempt to stop the GT40 in the 1967 LeMans because they knew that no other car at the race had a chance of beating it. That was also the year that the rules were changed and you weren't allowed to have an engine over 5 liters. Even with the engine restrictions, the GT40 went on to win in '68 and '69, even with the odds stacked against them. In '69, over twenty Porsches & Ferraris were entered against three GT40's. The winner that year was an old Mk 1 from 1966, winning against brand-new, state of the art cars. That's why you pay nearly $200,000 for a new GT. Don't get me wrong, its a great car, but you're also paying a lot for the name.

Plus, the Shelby concept is just that; a concept. Doesn't mean they're going to put it into production anytime soon. Also, I'm sure that a GT would kick the Shelby concept's ass in pretty much any race you put the two in.

Well the GT kicked a Porsche's ass and a Ferarri's ass in a car mag (car&driver or road&track, i forgot which one). They said in order for it to have any kind of competition, they'd have to put it up against the Enzo and other super-expensive supercars.

Actually when I get a car this is exactly what I want to do. Get some friends together, and race on streets/highways/etc from point A to point B. It would be like Midnight Club or something. I don't want to do it to be cool or anything like that, I just think it would be a ton more fun than drag racing.

Thats the Cobra Concept. It has a lot of the same things as the GT..Same Gear Box, Suspension and Transmission, but it comes stock with a 5-point harness and no radio

i define ricer as any car that has stuff on the outside for looks IE: spoilers, fart can, skirts, front end stuff, etc. I dont care if you have 700/700 under the hood, i will still think your car is retarded looking with all th crap on it. if you want to go strictly for go and no show, then i will admire your sleeper because it doesnt look like a 16 year old owns it and it actually still has good stuff in it

Man...what was I thinking? You're right, I'd much rather have a car that is turning into a rust-bucket but has a good engine. I guess any car that doesn't look like you just saved it from the compacter at the junkyard is gay...I mean, all these people driving cars with good paintjobs and no rust spots? What a bunch of fags!

Actually some of that stuff really does enhance preformance. A lower front end prevents more air from going underneath the car, reducing drag. Some cars can actually benefit from a rear spoiler at high speed when the back wheels come off the ground...not to say that I'd need one with the SVT Focus (aka ricer, right?) since its a hatchback and has enough weight on the rear wheels to keep them on the ground.

And I totally lost you on a four cylinder dying if you tried to race it. How does that make sense? Most preformance four cylinder engines actually have higher redlines than muscle car engines. And have you ever watched a rallycross? They put those cars through way more punishment than anything you'll see in drag racing or NASCAR short of a crash.

Actually, I do go that fast. My friend had a Lancer OZ, and there's this stretch of I-76 in Akron down by the Goodyear plant where the cops can't sit on the highway to shoot radar for about a mile and a half...I can remember going about 150 or so (we couldn't tell for sure...his speedo cut off at 140) up and down the road at three in the morning. You assume too much.

Oh, and those accessories do make a difference at lower speeds; most spoilers start to make a difference at 95 or so, and a lowered front end makes a difference in fuel efficiency at pretty much any speed.

On the other hand, I'm sure you have no problem with the drag muscle cars with 24" rear tires and a supercharger that sticks 18" out of the middle of the hood. Nothing wrong with someone who wants to mod the hell out of a GTO or Impala, but as soon as someone wants to do the same to a WRX or Focus, they're an immature, gay, 16 year old wannabe.
