no, I don't know everything about cars, nobody does. so, bottom line is you can go get your focus and nobody will stop you, people will call you a ricer and nothing will stop them. nobody here is going to change their minds; it's like Ford vs. Chevy.

DrifTrix, as long as you don't put a wing bigger than those on 80's NASCARs and a fart can on it, you're fine, that isn't a ricer. and about a domestic 4-banger making 195 hp? the srt-4 has 230hp, 250 lb/ft torque. and spud was right, they're fine cars for driving, but not for racing. the thing that pisses most people off is the ridiculous buzzing/farting noise eminating from most of them cuz their drivers think it sounds cool.

I'm not getting pissed about the my car preference vs. your car preference thing. Its the personal attacks against me; since I happen to like compact cars and overall modding (not just under the hood) I am now a gay, immature 16 year-old. It's OK for you guys to like the old-skool muscle cars, but since I don't, I'm gay. Like I said, I like something that you don't. I guess that makes me fair game for bashing. What if I did the same to you and said that since you like muscle cars, that makes you an uneducated, slack-jawed redneck who never washes his mullet and listens to REO Speedwagon while driving a car that looks (IMO) absolutely ridiculous?

Clarification on the rallycross being more punishing: the actual race puts more stress on the entire car. Watch a rally race sometime, they go over a hill at 100 MPH and have measurable hangtime...that's way more damaging to the car's suspension and drivetrain than driving in a straight line for a few seconds. It punishes more than just the engine, practically every part of the car besides the body is under incredible stress during rallycross.

the ones who have unwashed mullets drive T-top 80s Firebirds and Camaros . I don't know who called you a gay, immature 16 year old. I see spud said something about a car looking like a 16 yr old owns it, and I'm sure he was referring to the ones that have 1 aftermarket wheel, a body kit that is unpainted and still white, a 4' wing that is unpainted and baby blue, and has a fart can and a driver who seems to have taught himselg how to drive on his Xbox. Nowhere did I see anyone call you gay or a 16 yr old. I do see somebody saying something and you making an exaggerated, sarcastic remark because that person's opinion is different from yours. Let's just all calm down and let the cars do the talking, eh?

ive seen a crappy car called something like 4x4? i dont know but it looked liked the car in pyros sig but a lot crappier and scratched with the paint chipped off. anyways it had spinners and someone left it parked at arbys for 3.5 weeks.

and i want some plastic "spinnas" from kmart

Like I said, the speedo went to 140, and it was over the 140 mark. The 150 figure isn't cast in stone because the speedo only went to 140, but we figured 145-150. And that was peak, we only sustained it for a few seconds and then had to slow the hell down. I-76 is a raised highway through that part of Akron (if you look on a map, right after I-76 and I-77 intersect headed eastbound) for about two miles, and after it goes back to normal you have to slow down because the police have somewhere to sit while shooting radar. Also, someone typically calls the police and you'll be headed west and you'll see three cop cars with their flashers going on the other side of the highway running flat out.

And I know that the OZ is just a bunch of cosmetic differences, but that doesn't mean its not capable of going that fast. Hell, my other friend had a '91 Escort GT and we got that up to 125 on a regular basis (again, not 100% sure because the last number on his speedo was 85, judging by the distance the needle was off of the 85 we arrived at 115-125.)

Like I said, there's a predujice against compacts. Just because it has a four cylinder doesn't mean its a slow car.

I've never said otherwise. However, a modified Civic can be a fast compact. My friend with the Lancer OZ was going to buy a '92 hatchback to use as a project car before he left for the Army (and for his transportation after his Lancer got repoed.) I guess since Civics are so ubiquitous, preformance parts and body kits for them are dirt cheap. He was saying the cost to drop in a new engine/transmission with a turbo kit (turbocharger, intercooler, timer and blowoff valve) would be under $2000. I guess that could make buying one worthwhile, but I never would. For starters, I prefer to buy American (specifically Ford) and if a stock Focus SVT is going to be called a "ricer" then you can rest assured that any Civic will.

the whole point of the website for which this thread was made is that SLOW, STOCK civics and the like are made too look fast by teenage asian boys who have nothing better to spend their allowances on than body kits, wings, stickers, stereo equipment, and fart cans. Nobody's saying they can't be made fast, but the majority are ricers, and ricer is an antonym for fast. The reason a Focus, SVT or otherwise, would be called a ricer would be if you put on a body kit that resembled those slow ricers (redundant). Becuse of the ricers, every car that has a body kit and erector set wing is like a neon sign saying "I'M SLOW!" I bet that if you put ricey-looking kit on a car that runs single-digit 1/4mi., people will think it's slow. It's all because of the ricers.
