I hate people who spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on cars, and then never drive em, or they are just for show.

Every once in a while I get curious at how much all the hot sports cars are going for so I pick up a Dupont Registry mag (It's basically an auto trader for rich people). It disgusts me when you see like '95 Ferraris and Lambos with less than 5,000 miles. If I had either of them cars I would put 5k miles on it in 3 months, easily. Why would you spend 200 grand on a car, and not drive it?

so you guys would spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on cars and risk having them totaled by some barbie girl talking to her girlfriends in her Escalade her daddy bought her?? I'm gonna go out on a limb and imagine you don't drive....

I love this story...
"I was driving around when I notice a dark red early 90s Nissan Sentra come flying up in my rear view mirror. He pulls up next to me and starts revving his engine. (Why is it that since I drive an Integra, everyone thinks I'm out to race?) The road turns into a one lane road and I am in front of him. He passes me in the shoulder and flips me off, like I did something. he had an aluminum wing and a "Spec V" badge. His girlfriend was pointing and laughing at me. This pissed me off. We come to this light and he is in front of me and starts revving the crap outta his engine; I could hear him bouncing off the rev limiter thanks to his nasty fart cannon muffler. Maybe he didn't know, but the State Police barracks were on the other side of the light. I gave him a little rev, just to respond back. He makes the left turn and starts to floor it. I go around the turn normally and accelerate normally. He slams on his brakes to get next to me (he in the left and me in the right) and starts talking to me. I don't know what he was saying, cause I couldn't hear over the stupid fart cannon exhaust, but it had to be some stupid little ricer kid talk. He floors it and I thought what the hell, I'll go for it. In about a third of a miles time, I'm about 3 car lengths ahead of him. He does the typical ricer flyby. Luck found it that we were stopped at another light together. The guy starts talking to me and was like, "Why don't you get a better Honda?!" I said to him, "Acura is the better Honda you dumbass. You have no room to talk, you lost!" He then told me he lost because he "missed second." Funniest part of the whole story: His girlfriend looks at him and says "How can you miss second, you have an automatic. Face it, you lost." Light turns green and he goes somewhere and I just keep driving. "

I've been driving for 2.5 years. Now let's say you own a Ferrari, and you paid for it fair and square. You obviously have a lot of money. Most likely you'll have enough to own some pretty good car insurance. So let's say dumbass Barbie is yacking on her cell phone, and totals your Ferrari. Your awesome insurance policy pays off, and you buy a new Ferrari.

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys consider to be "ricers"?
Are you talking about the people who buy the BS accessories at autozone (like the bolt-on spoilers and the LED exhaust tips) and put them on their beater cars or anyone who drives a car that has an engine with less than eight cylinders?

the former. actually, it's usually people who think their beater POS (which, honestly, are almost exclusively 4-bangers) are the fastest things on the road simply cuz they bought a fart can, a CAI, and a Wal-Mart wing. and yes, Wal-Mart does sell wings, and I've seen plenty of ricers with them on their cars.
oh, can't forget the stickers!!

yes, and dont forget the cars that have the bamboo frames and come with the little japanese guy who changes out the rubber band (in american cars, like the legendary neon, some come with the automatic squirrel feeder)

That isn't a "ricer." Ricer would be someone who is thinks their car is the best, and regularly gets owned while making excuses. If it's actually fast, it usually isn't "ricer."
