Well, while I understand that it is meant to help people have a reason to post worthwhile things, instead of flaming (by giving a "bonus" for not giving people a reason to dislike you), I don't think it will quite work out the way it was intended.

Think of it. It's going to become the next flame war. Only instead of having to post, you just get a bunch of people trying to "ruin" the other member's reputation.

Interesting idea, and I look forward to seeing how it fares. However, I see it as being just another outlet for petty grievances.

My advice to the forum on a whole would be: Use this as it was intended**. If a post is helpful, up the person's reputation. If their post is derogatory, lower their reputation. If their post is just fluff, don't mess with their reputation.

**(At least as it should have been intended, IMO. I can't speak for those that implemented it, and have no idea as to the real reason.)
