Video Editing Software

Are there any good free video editing programs out there? I just got back from a trip and have a lot stuff I need to edit out. Any suggestions?

on Windows XP, there's a Windows Movie maker thingy on it. that's what i use atleast... If u dont have XP, i dont know what to say

also you might want to look at sony vegas. its not free, but you can "buy" it off, well you choose. its more complex but very easy to learn and you can do many more things with it.

i really want to remember the software that came with the macintosh. the software for the macintosh is great. i heard they edited real movies with it. i think they edited titanic with it.
