sound card
well i just picked up a new sound card since my other one was screwed. and i tried to install it but i still have no sound. we followed the instructions on it so does anybody know what i should do. i have a windows xp and its an HP. the sound card on the comp is built into the motherboard(the one that is screwed) so i cant remove it so i slid the new sound card into the slot at the bottom of the computer and plugged the speakers and everything into it. and it still doesnt work. its a Creative Sound Blaster Live card. it came with a wire as well which it said to plug into the cd/dvd drive which i did but there are multiple ones on the the cd and dvd drive.
im also having problems with musicmatch jukebox and i cant install it, any idea

disable the onboard sound and enable the new sound card.
My Computer -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Sound Video and Game Controllers

i already uninstalled all the drivers and the old sound card so it doesnt appear any more in device manager. but i do get something that says audio codecs and legacy audio drivers. should i uninstall that as well. i got the musicmatch to work the right way but like it did before with the other sound card it just says that there is a soundcard error and that the waveout format is not supported. when i tried to find the music through musicmatch instead of just opening the music first. it would not show the music where there was some. i also tried opening it in windows media player and it said that there was a hardware error.
im really hoping you guys can help me out because i really cant afford to bring it back to the tech
Thanks

i have the same card on my gateway. I have an hp too, and yeah, their hardware is REALLY fun. make sure it's all plugged in right, that may be part of it. also check the volume control. seriously, check all of the obvious things. that's usually the problem.

Try updating the drivers before you do anything.

not sure how to do it on an hp or anything, but on my computer while it's starting up it'll tell you to press like say delete, or f2 to enter setup, that'll take me to the bios menu and everything..
