I need to make a miniture guillotine for my english class, because we are studying the Tale of Two Cities. Can somebody give me some decent ideas on how to do it/what materials. It needs to be working and everything so take that into mind.d

lol, that's about the jist of it. it was created when the most complex weapon was an axe, it shouldn't be that hard to make it

What are you gonna do? Chop off someones finger with a mini guillotine? Or wheel a big one up to some kid with down syndrome then... Whack!

The guillotine itself wouldn't be a weapon, but you could easily remove the razorblade, (or someone else could) and use it as a slashing weapon. He's right, it's probably not worth the risk, unless you have permission prior to bringing it in.

Balsa wood, string, piece of metal or a razor blade. Pretty easy.. And then put a lego man head on the ground next to it lol...

id imagine so, youd have to carve out a slot in the wood your using.
i dont see how it has anything to do with english, i mean yes, it has to do with the book but i dont see how anyone learns anything by building a guilotine...

You might want to check to see if old school guillotines had a slanted blade so they could cut better. The probably had enough weight to them that they could cut their target without one but if you want realism check it out.

wanna do it easy?
build a small frame that looks like the guillotine, then screw a small eyebolt into the top of the frame. then just string some twine through the top and connect it to the "blade"
once your dont with that, take 4 small strips of cardboard or balsa wood and attatch them on the side with the blade hanging in the middle.
just make sure the blade is heavy enough to fall

just dull the blade. our teacher has his own little guillotine in his class with a dulled blade.

make a pneumatic guillotine with the backblock of a cocker
but really, if you look online you can find plenty of plans. Just make sure you have a well greased razor slide, an angled razor for better cutting action, and a good amount of weight on the razor so it actually cuts into stuff
