did i screw up my life today by choosing not to go to a "school for the advanced"
a because all my freinds are going to another one
b it doesent seem like my kind of place
c its nearly 10 miles away from my house so i have to ride 2 or 3 different buses to get to it
theres not much difference inthe two only one is suppose to be ranked better than the other and they have a huge medical education program thingy whitch ihave no interest in

Wow don't beat yourself up over something like that.

I chose applied alegbra and it helped me. Most my friend are in geometry, which is 2 levels above me.

Want it from a parents point of view? I wouldn't have gave my kid a choice. Your education is the one thing that will affect you later in life. You may not think so now, but trust me. The better the education you have (or get) the farther in life you will go.

So yea, I think you should've went there. If the school is ranked higher, that means the better the teachers are. That's the way it is here, anyway.

Ok, I'm done..

ETA: Your friends shouldn't have been a factor. You're supposed to go to school to learn, not **** around.

meh they played a small role but i didnt like the place eather way it just isent my kind of thing it more trouble than its woeth in my opinion i already won a schollorship in 7th grade from duke i dontreally like the school itdoesent have what im going for in life

Whatever you choose, it won't matter. American highschools serve only one purpose- to get you into college. College only serves one purpose- to look good on your resume. Unless you go into medicine or a science, your education has no effect except to look good.

This forum cannot tell you have to live your life. Just go with your gut. It's normally right more often than your brain.

Actually they should if he's someone who doesnt make new friends easily. Would he really get the best grades or education if he is sitting in class worrying about what people think if he doesnt walk with people in the halls, sit with a big group at lunch, if he's going to get bullied around today, ect. Who knows, it could end to dropping out or something

If you have people to help you out in classes who you arent scared to ask for notes or homework you missed or a peer who could help you with something you dont understand it really does help.

I guess I was never one to care what anyone thought of me. I didn't make friends easily, but my friends all went to another school. I finally figured out that I actually did better without my friends around, then I did when we all went to school together.

I mean our opinions don't really matter. He's already made his decision. So really this thread is pointless. Except to start arguements amongst ourselves.

BTW Dan, I totally agree with what you said.

Really, I'm not flaming anyone nor am I trying too.

Just stating my opinion as a parent. The word that most of you cringe at when you hear it.

I do remember what it's like to be a teenager. At the time you think it's the hardest thing you'll ever go through. Some (not all, actually far from all) have no clue and I'm not saying that to anyone inparticular, either.

well i dont particularly care about what people think of me alot of people i know who also got the scollorship arent going besides they have osme lottery crap i just found out about they put your name in abox and draw out 100 people to go i would rather not get my hopes up

There are very few things you can do that will screw your life up completely. You make a lot of choices in your life and each and every choice has consequences. These can be positive or negative depending on how you want to view them. All you need to do is make the best possible choices you can by considering all of the information at your disposal and taking into account what results each choice will yield. You made your decision for a reason, now you are just second guessing yourself. Sure there are benefits of going to a better school, but there are also detriments. Same goes for going to the school you chose. There is no right choice, there is a simply your choice.

who the heck gets a scholarship in 7th grade. just go to a public school take all AP and if your a minority your guaranteed to get into a good college.
