you can find smg 60's on ebay all the time for around $150, but the paint is the hard thing to find. .62 cal is no longer being made so its pretty hard to find, same with stripper clips.

I like it, especially because the tank comes out the back like that, in line with the barrel. get a smaller tank, and a buttplate, and use it as a true stock. Looks comfy to hold, i wonder how accurate in comparison to newer tippmanns.

sorry.....its actually a .68 special, but this particular gun was made from an original smg-60. they switched the front end out by cutting the frame and bolting a barrel and feedneck piece down in place of the clip.

here is a few pictures of my SMG-68, i also have a .68 special they are still very nice guns, just not worth near what a smg is worth. SMG 68's like the one shown are worth around $600-700 for collectors like myself. SMG 60's usually run $120 to $200, due to the lack of the .62 caliber paint. .68 specials in very good shape are worth mabye $80-100 if they are close to new in box condition, with a few going brand new never fired still in the original box for $120 or so on ebay. anyway still a nice gun, have fun with it. the SMG60 came out around 87, the SMG68 around 88 and the special sometime around 90-91 if i remember right. heres some pictures of my SMG.

man, those things are awesome....i wished i could get one... so what did tippmann do? just take existing smg- 60 and 68 models and modify them into .68 spc? i think thats how it goes cuz mine says smg-60 on it.

Tippmann offered the conversion in around 90-92 i think. you'd send in your original SMG60 or SMG68 and they would cut the entire front end off in a L shape and then drill two holes, and bolt on a front end with a bolt, and hopper elbow, and intall the plastic linkage to move the bolt. they would also change the sear to semi auto only, as opposed to the select fire one of the SMG.
