So I was just getting into paintball and I was wondering if anybody can explain me all this woods ball and speed ball stuff. Please try to be as descriptive as possible.

well, woodsball is paintball

and speedball is paintball.....

really the only difference is the location, woodsball in the woods and speedball is typically played on some sort of an artificially crated field. people make a big deal about woodsball vs speedball, in reality its all paintball, neither one is better or worse than the other and neither one requires different equipment

Airball/speedball:

Played on an artificially created surface. The field is symmetrical, uniform in size, Airball is perceived as being a bit more athletic of a game, though I've seen the morbid/medically obese play this.

Woods ball is played on whatever kind of field using whatever type of cover. Fields are often unique in shape, not restricted in size, and not symmetrical. This is generally seen as being "Everyone's game", though athleticism helps in play.

Tactically? The games are largely unchanged. Functionally? The games are no different. Anything that will give you an advantage in one game type, provides you an advantage in the other. Either game type will require the same amount of paint..which is based on player preference.

If I had to identify 2 specific things that differently define these two games:
1) Game Length. A 5v5 airball game typically will be over a bit faster than a woods game on a larger, outdoor field.
2) Direction of Flying Paint. In an airball game, the paint is flying from a mostly uniform direction. While its true of either game, I find I am less prone to take a "side of the head" shot in an airball game.

Paint streaking

How do you keep paint from streaking and smearing on your mask when you get hit and wipe it off? I notice after the day of play it fades off but when i take a direct hit to then mask and wipe it off it streaks and smears and stays that way for a while, nothing ive done can prevent this.

Markers for a beginner?

Hi I'm just starting out paintballing and I was wondering if someone can recommend me some markers. I've heard that the Spyder Victor is a good gun for beginners. These are the things I was looking for in a marker: durable (Should last me a year or two), low-maintenance, and my price range was $40 - 60$. All replies are greatly appreciated.

WHen I go to remove a hit:

I take the heel of my hand, and drag it across the lens, aiming to pull as much of the shell with the initial wipe as possible.

Then, I wipe my hand on my pants.

Then, I take the micro- and in 1 direction, wipe firmly several times.

I was looking at more of the "Recreational" perception of the individuals who play the given play-styles.

Up here at both of the premier fields:

Woodsball is played by everyone. More often than not- they're dressed in camo and carrying a T98. They come in all shapes and sizes...but if you think about the average american's size.....yeah.

Airball... isn't as attractive to the big-guys...for speed and cover reasons....so to speak.
