painting a mask?

Im wondering if it is possible to paint my JT Proteus mask. i have the smoke version, and i want to paint the plastic part if it a dark blue.

and if i cant paint it, does the JT spectra goggle frames fit in the proteus? it uses the same lense, i just dont know if it uses the same frame.

No matter how you do it that chance that the paint will stick to the plastic is very slim. If you do it, it was just chip and peel and look horrible. I think all JT lenses are the same. Is that what you mean by frame?

the frame is the part of the goggle system that holds the lense. the Proteus uses the same lenses as the Proflex, but will the frame be the same too? the frame doesnt go into the proteus the same way as it does the proflex.

and yea i figured the paint would chip, thats why i asked.

If the lenses are the same then the frames should fit.

the thing is though, the frame goes in the proteus different than it goes into the proflex.

i want to add some color to my mask, and i figure i would make the frame blue.

Nonsense. The paint wont chip. You just have to be prepared to use emory board or emory paper to sand it real well. Or, get some Krylon Fusion in spray cans, that paint is supposed to bond to plastic on a molecular level.

Or you can just drap a layer of thin, breathable cloth over cerain parts of the mask. That way, you don't have to worry about sanding or the paint chipping and it can help diguise the mask's outline. Do keep the lens clear of anything though.

Note: Remember, breathable cloth. Running around with the equivalent of a wielding mask really bites.

I have posted a way you can do this without having to sand and costs only $6-$12

Check it out:
http://www.paintballforum.com/forum...ead.php?t=86475

If you do it this way you can't mess it up.
