Thermal Lense...what does it do?

I have been playing with my POS brass eagle mask and at this point I cant see out of it anymore so I was looking to get a cheap mask (~40) just for casual play. I have a clear lense on mine but I saw some with thermal lenses. My question is what is its purpose? What does semi mirror help? Wouldnt it reflect light giving away your poisition? (woodsball ... not into speedball) (See Here)

Also for the link I posted anyone use that goggle system? 0? I was also considering this one

Thermal masks are designed to not fog.

You are mixing two things here... you have a thermal lens, but then there are different coatings on the lens.

A thermal lens is usually treated on the inside with a liquid that prevents it from fogging up... a HUGE PLUS.

However, most mask have interchangable "thermal" lenses. V-sheild carries all different types, Amber, Mirrored etc... different situations have different benefits.

Even a clear lens on the right day at the right time and right angle will reflect light, the purpose is for your sight conditions though and not the other team. So use an amber in low light, your darker shades in high light, and pick something that will work for you AND keep you safe.

A thermal lense is actually two lenses are squished together, but purged with nitrogen in the middle. The nitrogen doesn't have a low specific heat, so it will not transfer temperature as well between the two lenses. The payoff? When you exhale and your warm breath goes up into the mask, it doesn't hit the colder, outside temperature air on the outside of the lense. This means that the colder outside temperature that would exceede the dew point of your warm breath and produce the vapor, doesn't interact with the outside air. Simply put, a thermal lense reduces your chance of "fog".

i dont think so. Well at least not my JT Spectra lenses. the foam that seperates them isnt air tight, so the only thing inbetween the lense is just air. maybe a more expensive thermal lense uses that, but not mine.

I was going on what i've read on ballistic goggles. I assumed, for the price, the paintball ones would be the same.
