Dark Legion is re-organizing after having a disappointing year in terms of interest. Due to other personal responsibilities, most of the team was not able to play any tournaments this year. We are currently reviewing our team objectives and are looking for a new start. Hopefully some of our previous players will return, but in the meantime, we would like to start recruiting some new talent and members to the team. We have had no tournaments this year and in 2004, we competed in the Badlandz 3-man for a few games and the PSP Chicago Open 5-man rookie division, placing 12th overall after losing in the semi's. Our participation that year in more tournaments was hampered as well due to a lack of commitment by a lot of players. We never had a stable roster which inhibited any successful play in a tournament series. This is one of the areas I am looking at correcting and would like to recruit players that will be committed and want to be part of a growing organization.
Some of you may be aware of Dark Legion; we started as a scenario team a few years back and I joined in 2004 for the tournament side and was responsible for organizing and successfully competing in the PSP. I want to take that success and carry it over to a new reformed and committed Dark Legion team. (The scenario team still exists and is recruiting separately, if you’re interested in the scenario side send an email to scenario @ darklegionpaintball.com [remove spaces])
The team will be reorganized into at least two sections, a young guns team and the main team.
The young guns team will compete in the PSP young guns tournament in next years PSP Chicago Open and in young guns tournaments across the Chicago land area. Per PSP regs, this is open for players that are 15 or under. As this will be for next year, you will not be able to be older than 15 when the tournaments occur. My ultimate goal will be to have this team be a feeder team to the main DL team in future years. You will also need to come out to practice at least once a month, possibly twice if able to.
The main team will aim to compete in at least the Badlandz 3-man or possibly the 5-man tournament series as well as at least the Chicago Open PSP event. Which tourney will be decied on the 'level' of the team. If the team is primarily rookie, we will enter the rookie tourneys, otherwise, it will be novice. Hopefully, if funding will not be too big of an issue, we may try at least to travel to one tournament to get the travel experience and to play a tournament in a completely different environment. You will need to be at least 16+ and have a steady source of income. We will plan on practicing at least every other weekend, and every weekend for 3-4 weeks leading up to the PSP tournament. We may practice more if team member finances allow.
We are primarily looking for players that will be able to classify the team as rookie for the PSP and local tournaments for next year; however, some local tournament experience would be preferred.
How many players will be recruited is still uncertain, however, we are looking for a full roster by the end of fall and hopefully will be able to begin practicing as a team this winter (indoors initially depending on weather). We primarily practiced at Badlandz and some members used to go to PB Shooters. Our scenario team as a whole had a sponsorship with Realms of Ruin and the benefits carried over to our tournament side as well, but we never made use of these. Future practice fields will be determined based on the make up of the team and convenience (as well as cost).
We currently do not have any direct sponsorship, but I hope this will change. I do have some ideas, but nothing will be discussed until on the team and only if any of the ideas pan out. Do not expect any kind of major sponsorship until we are obviously well established and can show sponsors we mean business. Unfortunately, this means you will need to be able to afford the costs of practice and tourney entry fees/paint. I will most likely be able to get discounts on paint for practices and BYOP tourneys (if any exist).
For equipment, make sure your markers are tournament ready (and ‘legal’).
No try-out date has been set yet; however, if you are interested please post your information here and you will be contacted when a try-out is scheduled. I also suggest you send me an email to tournament @ darklegionpaintball.com (remove spaces). Once enough interest is shown, I will schedule the try-out session(s).

We currently have a site at
www.geocities.com/ops_hq . I am currently working on creating an updated, more thorough site and will hopefully have that up by this winter as well. The original site primarily deals with the scenario side of the organization. The new site will contain forums (both private for team use only and public), email accounts for each team member (team comms. only as the mailbox isn’t very large, at least initially), calendar of events, and Jabber IM service, as well as other features. This will eventually be located at
www.darklegionpaintball.com .
EDIT: actually, our forums are already up at
www.darklegionpaintball.com/forum
