A few Noobish Questions
I may be picking up the sport soon. I have played a few games with rental 98s and I have fallen in love with that gun. I know it is not the most fantastic gun but for the upgrade potential, the fact that I wont play all the time and the fact that I can get one from a friend makes it a good choice for me (IMO).
But my real question is regaurding masks and CO2. I have been told that anti fog is a must and after one rental session when my mask would fog as soon as I started to breath heavily (I was a little excited). After a little research on the net the View Force Shield looks good. Is that a good mask to go with? Also concidering that for the most part I will be indoors with a few games outside what is a good colour? Or say is camo important in woods ball?
Next CO2. It seems that a 20oz is the way to go but is it something I should get or would I be better with a smalled tank?
I hope someone can help.

12 oz is the best sized tank. It is all about preference however

Buy an expensive mask. Try out a dye invision and a vForce Profiler. EVen if your mask costs more then half your gun, its worth it. You can't play if you can't see. And thermal lenses don't always work. MY JT nVader was thermal adn it still fogged quite a bit.
Get a Profiler or invision

a lot os poeple will be concerned with weight, and size.. it's all personal preference, but i'd say either a 16oz, or 20 oz would be good for you.. a 98c is a heavy gun, so i wouldnt be so concerned about weight...

color doesn't matter. U can wear darker colors if u want. But really, u'll be easy to pick out w/ the mask on.
my neighbor has that mask. Seems to work great.
98c is perfect for a rec baller like u. Tank, that depends on how much u shoot. I'd get a 12oz here since a 20oz would really weigh u down.

Ok guys thanks alot for the help. How many shots would a 12oz give me? In a couple of packages I was looking at before I heard my friend was getting rid of his gun there was mention of an on/off valve. Is that something I should get?

no, you dont really need an on/off valve.. all it does is save you the one or two shots of co2 you lose when you take your tank of.... definitely not needded, save your money and spend it on something else...

Also what is good foot wear for indoor and outdoor?

you'd bebetter off getting a dye or other pb company jersey and pants, they are very comfortable and look nice especially for indoors

go the extra mile for goggles, DYE Invs, Jt Proflex and the V-force Profiler. There all great goggles that all offer something and plus it'll more than likely the last set of goggles you'll ever need. Plus you look sexy in one of em ;].
For co2, either a 12oz or 20oz. Whichever floats your boat in terms of weight, I personally went for a 20oz when i started, less chance of it running out during a game but i coulda just kept filling with a 12oz. 20oz=1000shots, 12oz , i believe 600 shots ?
For clothes, wear whatever you can find for now,try light breathable clothing for a speedball. Of course it doesnt really matter what you wear, but camo can look pretty funny in a speedball enviroment. Later on either look into paintball pants + jersey if you like the speedball enviroment or a camo set for the woodsball type of style.
Focus on the tippy98, great goggles, and a 12 or 20oz tank for now with a gravity hopper. Everything else is not needed just yet, just play with that gear, get use to it, pwntage people, then upgrade to whatever you see is needed. (Barrel, hopper, etc)

If you go with a 20oz tank, and think it is a bit heavy, well I have a way to pimp your gun and help balance weight. Ok, ready?
1.Buy a tippmann drop forward.
2.Flip it around so that when you screw the tank in, it goes under the gun instead of under your shoulder.
3. Screw tank in and decide whether you like it balanced like that, or if you like it under your shoulder.
4. Go pwn some n00bs

Heres the setup u need :
Tippman 98c
DYE invis (kicks @$$)(don't get yellow if ur playing outdoor)
12 ounce CO2 cause it is not heavy but u can get almost 1000 shots outta it
DYE jersey cause its SEXY! (don't get a bright color if ur playing outside)
DYE pants if u want to look SEXIER (they are good if u slide a lot)
with that u should be set and with all that DYE stuff it will cost like 3x more than ur gun (thats paintball) but u will look SEXY and people will take pics of u.
P.S. do not wear underarmour omg lol i had almost a heat stroke from wearing that during a tornament in like 90 degree weather LOL hehe
Well good luck with ur PAINTBALLING and this is SHOCKER signing off.

the View Force Shield is a good mask. But i would prefer a Proto switch mask.

for woodsball camo is acceptable but not needed. Dressing in dark colors will be fine as well for woodsball. For indoor games i would strongly suggest not wearing camo. You can either buy a jersey specefically made for paintball(dye, redz, empire for around $50), use a hoody, or just go in a teeshirt.

a smaller tank would be lighter, but not to a significant degree. Instead i would suggest spending a little bit more money and buying a 20oz since it can hold much more co2.
edit:
if your willing to buy a more expensive mask as others have suggested then i would suggest a profiler or a JT proflex. The profiler has quick change lenses and a smaller profile but is more expensive.
I dont like the dye invisions as much because they site very far off your face, they offer very little coverage for a lot of areas covered by most masks(ie: chin) and their lenses are the hardest the change by far.
However, the Proto Switches are probably one of the better goggle systems out there and are very affordable(around $30).
in terms of clothes i would suggest Dye pants and an Empire or redz jersey. If you feel the need, dye makes the best cleats and gloves as well. However, for a casual player these clothes are overkill and you'll be fine with baggy jeans and a hoody.

Im dont think I will go for the Dye wear. Yes it looks good but it costs way to much (for me) and I dont liek being flashy. Another reason I tunred to the 98 it looks like a real gun and its not flashy. What would be the best mask for $100 or under. I know its protecting my face but 140 (canadian dollars) is a lot of money.
What do you guys normaly wear on your feet? Ie shoes, hiking boots, combat boots?

I have a V-Force Profiler mask which can be found for $80-90 USD. Its a bit pricey, but that fact that I think it is comfortable, and I have never had it fog up makes it a good buy for me, and I'd recommend it to everyone. Although there are some cheaper masks that are thermal they may not always work as Alpha stated earlier.
If I'm playing outdoors I will wear some cleats. Indoors I wear running shoes.

i wear jungle boots most of the time. Or tennis shoes. Some ppl use cleats.
Lol, yeah, the tourney gear is expensive stuff. Buts it good and well built. I just bought some proto gear pants and jearsy for $100 (american) on sale. Very happy there. Nothing wrong w/ just wearing some jeans and a t-shirt.
u might find a flex-7 on sale.

If you go with the proto goggles, just to let you know it's proto EL and not FS. Difference in lens and bounce =]. As for goggles, the two best that pretty much agree'd on is either the proflex or the profiler. Profiler seems to the favorite on these forums, and flex on pbnation, but it's really up to what your looking for in goggles, since both offer something different.
Shoes - Tennis shoes, cleats, boots, depending what your playing. I use Dye ATCS, sort of a mix of cleats and shoes.
Jerseys and pants can actually be cheap, my local pb shop is selling a proto 04 package of jersey and pants for 60.
