Well, depends. Does your marker have a on/off on it or the tank? CO2 will enter your marker if you do not, and when you screw the tank off all that air will be released. The amount of air, only 1-5 shots. 5 shots if you have an expansion chamber, 1 shot if you don't have hoses, LPC's, etc.

yes because every time you screw in your tank co2 goes in to the hose.

Not really, just the air that goes into the gun and once you take the co2 out you lose whatever air comes out. Usually a quarter ounce of air. If you have a expansion chamber and a bottom line. But its nothing to worry about.

When he says he's not firing any paint, it sounds to me like he is pulling the trigger. In this case he is in fact using CO2. I would hope that he realizes that just holding his gun with the tank attached does not cause him to lose CO2.
