That is not very accurate.
It was FIRST allowed in the late 90s, but then universally banned by everyone because it is unsafe.
But cheat modes became EXTREMELY sophisticated using logarithmic increase rates, and hidden shutoff modes that some tournaments were spending ALOT of money to try and stop it using computer controlled robots.
So, some just gave up. In effect, at some tournaments, you can have your gun shoot full auto at any speed. They may "say" its not allowed, but they don't really care, since the faster you shoot, the faster there bank account increases.
