no..............don't get an autococker if ur a new person. I'd go with somethin that's relatively fast, but not to the point where u rely too much on it. Tippmann 98 c or spyder are dependable, and fast enough, but you can build skills, then get an autococker, also, from what everyone says, autocockers are a pain to maintain

i agree with most of that (for once) but a tippman isn't going to be fast enough for you.
autocockers are too much work.
get an ion.

A autococker will be better than an ion all around in the end, but its to confusing for a new player. You could also go for an electro Spyder. But if its just the Cocker and ion, Ion.

Don't get the cocker. Since you're a newer player, the autococker will confuse the hell out of you. I HATE Ions, but if you MUST go between these two... the Ion. I would really suggest you look into a Spyder though, those are good guns for new players, and can be used for speedball.

Wait... so how long have you played paintball? I thought you said six weeks? Okay here. Answer these questions.
1) How long have you been PBing total?
2) What guns have you ever owned?
3) If you ever owned a gun(s), then did you take it/them apart and understand fully how it works?

if your new to the sport i would say ion if you HAD to choose between the two. but i would start out with a spyder for your first gun. get some mech spyder and dont put many upgrades into it because the more you up it the less money your gonna get out of it if you decide to sell it. spyders are the biggest money pits ever.

Definetly the ion. It's an excellent gun for the money. I just got mine. You will need at least a new feedneck (clamping), and a drop. It's the best gun for the money (i think we all agree on that). Go with the ion, its really fast.

I Got An Ion - I Am A Sellout
The Ion is a good gun to start with... if you buy a Spyder for 100-150 bucks you will regret it. The package deals are bogus, upgrades will not carry over to your next gun (thread patterns), and let's face it who is using co2 for speedball play.
If you are new to the sport (still not sure?) keep playing with your buddies back up gun, practice shooting some of the higher-end guns, and you will come to the realization that the Ion is a screaming rec ball gun and a fair tournament gun (after upgrades).
Remember, the gun is just the piece in the middle...you still need HPA, forcefeed hopper, and upgraded barell. Also consider a drop and regulator swap for better consistancy.
save your money up and buy the one gun you can grow old with

yeah i didnt think about that.. autocockers can be confusing to keep operating right some times... not as hard to time as ppl say tho.. but i am just not sold on the ion yet.. but i will admit i am starting to believe..lol... look at some bko's maybe an omen... just dont buy a pos.. becouse you will end up regretting it.. then got to save money again and buy again... good luck...

ions are easy to work on. it take a minute to completely take it apart. the led lights are easy to use to program the gun, and there are many hop up parts for any type of buget. also they can be found relatuvly cheap in the pbnation buy/sell/trade section.
