Trying to get into the sport more, by actually purchasing a marker.
Hi, I've played a few times at a local place and just used rentals every time. But I'm actually looking to make an investment into the sport and get a gun. I've been reading a lot of the forums here and on a few other website trying to at least make a decision on a marker. But I've come to the point where I just cant distinguish the difference between some of the guns and what makes them better than the others. I've really taken a liking to the stats I've read on the Ion and the Imagine. I also like the looks of both guns. But I just dont know what sets them apart from one another. I dont really see myself playing tournaments any time soon, and I wont be playing more than a few times a month, but I still would enjoy having a nicer gun, in case I ever do make that step and play more often and more seriously. Also, if there is another marker that would make more sense for me to get then I would greatly appreciate its mention. Tips for choosing each marker would also be helpful, as well. As I said, I'm still noobish at actually being able to get to all the details of a marker. Thanks for your time and consideration.

A lot of people are going to tell you to go for an Ion... don't. For a first gun I'd go for the imagine.
1) You won't be playing seriously.
2) You won't be in tourneys.
3) For an Ion you should use HPA, and that adds $200 to the end price.
4) Spyders are very good beginner markers.

well, that's great. It's okay, some of the guns aren't different at all from each other besides price and pointless upgrades.
Now, since u don't plan on playing tournies and being really serious then u want a rec setup. Now, some morons are going to come in here and say "ion! ion!" totally forgetting u just want to have fun and not see how much $ u can drop.
For a occasional player i'd recommend a spyder, they are fast enough and do their job well. I'm also recommending a reloader II which is a fast (feeds ~13bps) hopper to stop chopping, and a good mask so u are comfortable and don't fog up.
spyder imagine $110
reloader II $50
20oz co2 $20
flex 7 $50
and..if u want u can get a 14inch j&j 1 piece ceramic barrel. $35/40
If u do HAVE cash to drop, then a ion would be great-i didn't recommend it b/c a good set up is like $500 w/ them. If u go ion (and u don't have to, u'll never use all it provides and while it's much smaller kick and higher rof over the imagine is nice, u don't really NEED it) then buy a 68/4500psi HPA tank (crossfires are best) a halo B and the ion.
Hope u enjoy ur gear once u decide!!

if u do go with the spyder, u can just buy my jj ceramic barrel, fr 25 dollars shipped. great barrel. but to be on topic. since its ur first gun. i would say imagine. i started with an imagine myself and it taught me all the principles of a gun and how to properly maintain one. which im selling my imagine for very low price, with reloader 2 hopper. spyder will most definitely be the way to go if ur on a budget but still want that quality.
