Tips 4 a newbie!
Hi,
I played paintball for the first time in my life this weekend. And man i was hooked! So was my friends! So we decided to invest in some gear and play regularly. And now my dear friends i need you advice on some gear.
First i must tell you that in Sweden (were i live) the gear is more expensive than in the states.
And the situation is like this:
game 2-3 times a month...
environment: woods, up in the mountains..
skill: crap....
I was looking to get the tippman A-5 ($340 roughly) is that overkill or?
Ofcourse were looking to improve our game and play more often later on.
I'm really no into close combat so i want a marker/gun
That has god accuracy and is reliable. ( i might buy a barrel in addition to the A-5) or should i get "spyder" or what! Heelp me heelp me.
all awnsers will be read, but awnsers like, "Tippman sux because ia have a JT" won't be read... Please i need your help so i won't thorw money away on stuff i don't need.
thanx!
/Ken

Go with any type of spyder, they will work out just fine for you, or a tippman 98 custom.

WOW tippmann A5 for $340....You'd be better off trying to get the whole A5 package on Ebay for $275 and below. Find someone who'd ship it worldwide or something.

yeah, thats pretty expensive.
if you're gonna get a tippy(tippmann) you might as well go with a 98 custom. it will be cheaper, but just as well made and effective. A-5's are nice, especially for senario ball and that kinda thing, but for 100 bucks less the 98c will suit you just as well.
if you have and are willing to spend the money for an A5, go for it, but if you're a little strapped for cash, i wouldnt worry about it.
spyders are good too. im not sure on the pricing of those, but you can certainly get a good one for the same price as the tippy. shop around a bit.

glad to have a new player on the forum, especially from sweden, get a tippmann custom pro e , cheaper than the a-5 but a lot faster. tippmanns will serve you well, they are tough and reliable.

spyders are slightly cheaper than tippmanns but just as effective it is all about preference and price

True. I'd still take a 98 custom over a spyder for woods anyday. For speedball though, I'd go with the spyder.

Buy a good mask. It is the most important piece of equipment you will buy. If it is cheap, it will likely fog up and you will not be able to see.
If you're hard set on a Tippmann, most of us would take the 98C or 98Pro over the A-5. Basically the A-5 and the 98 are indentical on the inside, and the feed system. But with the cheaper cost of the 98, you can buy an electric hopper that will keep your paint moving and still come out cheaper.
Spyders are also good to start off with. Another thing here is that they are all the same internally. All the electrics are the same, and all the mechanical ones are the same. Don't get tricked into paying an extra 150$ or whatever because one looks prettier.

Look into Spyders, Piranhas, Tippmanns and have a good mask. Also to start out at least with 1 12oz co2 tank or bigger. Then lastly a regular plain old gravity feed hopper.
