New as new can be.
Hi, in the past I had voiced some interest to my friends that I would like to try paintball. As a result, for my bday I got a PMI GSX. So here I am with a marker looking for a place near Long Beach to go a play and learn about what upgrades would be good to do on it. All help will be appreciated.

Welcome to paintball, you will soon find out how it is the best sport/hobby around. If you're looking a place to play go to the site mentioned above or post in the approriate regional forums. Have a fun stay and don't go trolling too much now (pun intended)

Welcome to paintball and the forum! Well upgrades wise a barrel first of all. Maybe a new bolt and if it dosent have a drop forward I would get one because it makes it so much more comfortable to shoot. Soem more obvious things, co2 tank, gravity feed hopper and a good mask. Hope I helped!

since ur new, dont be afraid to get shot. have someone shoot you in your yard before you play so you know what to expect.

Thanks all for the feedback. Very helpful. Well this weekend will be my first time out at a field. Lets see how much those balls hurt.

good luck with your first game.. it is one you will remember for a long time.. i wont lie, paintballs do hurt, but not that much, and most of the times you are so INTO the game you just fill like a little bump.... more mad that you are out than hurt...

when u get it, walk it off. Then forget about it-or focus on ur attacker and get him the next game.
Hope u have fun, remember mask on (i encountered some moron who lifted it every time to talk to his dad) and barrel plug in (well when not playing)

Thanks all. Went a played for my first time and had a load of fun. Still have the marks to prove it. Got hit on the neck and finger, and have to say it was painful. The hits on the back and chest where really no big deal. I went to Hollywood sports in Bellflower, CA. Think I'm going again this weekend. Thanks for all the great feedback.

Awesome! I've wanted to go to that field for a long time. Me and my bro are always talking about Starship troopers jokes and stuff, and I heard they have a bunch of sets from that movie.
Must've been fun. If I go out west in a few weeks, I'm DEFINETLY bringing my marker and am DEFINETLY mowing some muppets across the nation.
Let me be the first to speak abotu upgrades... Don't. Get a new barrel, a new hopper, or a new HPA/Nitro tank. Nitro/HPA is compressed air and will make your gun more consistant in velocity, A new barrel (not longer then 14") will increase accuraccy, and a new hopper will help you feed faster.
Anythign else is a waste, becuase if I'm right, you'll be wanting to upgrade in a while.
Hope you stay around here for a while!

Sad, but i'm ready for an upgrade. Please advice on parts that I can upgrade on my GSX to give me more distance and accuracy. Please give brands so I know what is good to buy. Course if you know where to get the cheap, let me know. Next time I go play I will try the 12inch barrel that came with the gun. I've been trying the 15 now. Everything on my gun is currently stock.
