If it was just the paint to bore match, kids wouldn't buy aftermarket barrels, they'd just buy the right size paint

Im not saying that accuracy is ALL paint to barrel match, but that does have quite a bit to do with it. I was just saying that length over 10-14" is useless, it causes more friction and therefore more air is used to get the ball out at the speed needed.

Paint to bore match is important, because it prevents air from getting past the ball on one or more sides and imparting spin, or from the ball "wobbling" in the barrel, and because it increases the consistency of your velocity.
Quality machining is important because it provides a smooth, consistent bore for the paint to glide through.
Porting patterns are important because they allow the air in front of the ball to escape the barrel, and prevent turbulance from affecting the ball as it moves down the barrel. Some porting patterns work better than others, and some, that are too close to the breech will hurt efficency.
And as far as length goes, 12"-14" is usually considered about the most effective length. After that the ball is no longer accelerating, and it takes more air to push the ball out of the barrel.

No, so they can try and get kids who think they are "snipers" to buy them, because common beleif among new players is that the longer the barrel the more accurate.

I'm sick of this ****. If you play with your marker on a 10 foot pole on your head, then maybe JUST maybe the color would matter.
Don't like the shininess? A $1.95 can of spraypaint will fix that. I've done it,it looks good.
98 customs do not have any more upgrades then any other marker. Anyoen who says it is is an idiot.

^^^^If anything the 98c is less customizable than other lower end guns in the price range.

Yeah they can be a little pricey but this kid doesn't want tippmann and is in woodsball hes gonna have to make more money and learn how to use it.

When I used to play woods, my first gun was a tippmann 98 custom with a flatline barrel. It seemed accurate and it shot great. I really recommend them as their very reliable and durable. Their easy maintenance too. You can do soo much with a tippmann.

i got me a tippmann right now
i would recommend getting an expansion chamber to help keep the gun clean.
i have a 14" progressive barrel and my tippmann shoots exactly where i entend.
only other things i may do to it is a double trigger and a rocket closed bolt mod.
it works great its durable ... i dropped it once when i tripped over a bunker while capturing a flag and it still worked just the same.
