Firing Rate?
I might be showing my "noobness" here but help me understand. I hear about markers that shoot 17-22 bps. When I hear this, I am assuming that this is in the auto firing mode? If so, that's useless because you can't use that firing mode in tournaments. If I'm wrong, then the ads are talking about semi mode. Is there really someone who can fire a marker 22 times in a second in semi mode (again, might be showing my noobness)?

Cheating-To violate rules deliberately, as in a game.
Taken from www.dictionary.com
Last time I checked ramp was legal.

Ramp is not always legal, but it is hard to catch. And in semi auto there are some people who can shoot that fast...The fastest I get is about 15 or so.

yes, those people are using semi-auto mode to get that speed. It's amazing really. Most ppl can do 13-15bps max, then there are those who just happen to have quicker fingers, few ppl can pull a true steady 20bps though. Light trigger switches, good triggers, ball bearings and magnets are all a huge help.
You should see somebody tri-finger a angel......it's VERY quick.

Usually people who walk their guns get faster BPS rates then people usuing full auto, because full auto is capped.

Full auto isnt capped all the time. Most of the time, if your board/chip has a full auto setting it can be made to fire at the fastest your loader can feed.
Ramping is illegal if th rules dictate semi auto only. However, if the rules allow it, then duh, its legal

Right. But ramp is still the oddball. It's not really semi, as in one shot per each finger pull, but it really isn't full auto.
It might also be the physical limit of the marker....Air rams and valves can only reset so fast without starting into partial cycles or whatever other problem. Like the G7 ads say 31bps. That's the limits of the design.
With BPS caps becoming the thing to do in tournaments and probably soon general fields as well, it seems (to me at least) that speed will possibly become a weaker selling point.

Nobody can really shoot 20+ bps without cheater boards. The fastest anyone can on their own is about 17 or 18 bps. <tops

um... ok... lemmie clear some stuff up. with an average, purely mechanical gun, the average player can shoot between 7-12 rounds a second. with a low pressure, non-sear tripping gun, you can shoot as high as 15. with an electro frame with a worked trigger, you might hit as manyt s 17. some people can shoot faster, but why would you need to? no living person can make it through a 12bps stream of paint, unless they had a rocket implanted in his butt...

the highest in TRUE semi is around 17 bps.
your friend is probably using a ramping mode or another means of causing the gun to fire more than the number of times the trigger is pulled.

haha, an automag "respone grip" can shoot as many as 18bps... but that's well, 2 shots per trigger pull.
with some guns, if you lower the pressure, it might be possible to squeeze out an extra round or so a second, but like I said, it's not like it's worth it, unless you want to be cool and waste paint

^ Its when you pull the trigger to a certain point and it starts "ramping" or bringing up your bps rate by telling your board that their are more shots than there are supposed to be.

i wont go into technical detail about ramping...but
ramping is a way of making your board "think" that the user is pulling the trigger faster than you actually are. There are several different ways of ramping, adding shots, lowering debounce, etc....
most electronic guns have a custom circuit board made for them that enables several different modes of fire, one is usually ramping.
Most ramping modes are activated when the user pulls a certain number of bps in semi mode...mine is set at 10 but you can adjust them to be pretty much whatever you want.
On many ramping boards/chips, you can select how you want your gun to ramp. Some boards ramp to the maximum capacity your loader can feed at. some can be programmed to ramp to a bps that the user selects.
Ramping is legal in several tournament series' like the PSP, NXL, and Millennium, but since 98.0% of the forum will never play these tournaments, ramping is fun to use at rec games and team practices and to show off...

Ahh, thanks guys. Does seem kinda cheap, one of those things where I would be mad if it happened to me, but would say it was fair if it was me doing it.
