i take it easy on the newer players because i want them to have a good time, sometimes i will let them play a game w/ my marker...when its just me vs. a newer player i don't shoot a hopper on them i will just make them surrender or just shoot them in the leg or something.....i hate it when people always play as serious as they can and bonusball the newer kids like 3-4 times

U know, big_balla, ur mentioning the dynasty dm5 player who was ramping and wiping is a good point. Some ppl out there think they can only play that way. I would have called him out for it in the staging area. And remind him that he is playing against less experienced players and should not need to do those things.

I'm a noob somewhat. I've played on like 6 or 7 games for a year now.
And actually, not until today did I realise it was a lot harder for newbs to win than the experienced people with their fancy markers.
I had a 98 Tippmann (I have a customised A5 with features which I don't understand, so I don't use it) today and has hard as I tried I couldn't get the more experienced players. At the end one came and snuck up behind me and shot me point blank range. He was literally TWO FEET away from me.
Yes. I am one of those people that spend half their time at behind a bunker but I can't help it. There are 324,324 paintballs flying at me and even if I as much stick my marker out I'm creamed.

i think the thing that scares the noobs most is being bunkered. thats why i surrender the noobs. unfortunatly, half of the time when i ask them to surrender they freak out and shoot me.

I'm betting you know who Tom Kaye is then? If not, he's pretty much the fatehr of paintball as we know it today, made constant air legal, brought us compressed air, the automag, etc.

Yeah, when I first went paintballing with my crappy Brass Eagle, I thought it would be my last. I was pretty much the only person with a basic gun, everyone else had like Dye DM5s, Autocockers, and Shockers. Right off the break, a rain of paint bears down on me, and I'm out. Next round I make it to a bunker but all of the paint flying by makes it impossible to snap out to find someone. So basically I'm hiding from the others until I try to stick my head and gun out for a shot. Rain of paint hit me before I could even react. Then as I'm walking off the field I got shot 2 or 3 more times (I dunno if they thought I was DMW or what, it was totally unecessary).

I didn't read all that you typed, lol, sorry, but I think I know what you are asking.
Me and the friends I ball with, have Ions and a few other have upped Tippmanns. Whenever we chrono, test fire, or even if they just see our guns, they are all like wow (considering they have just rentals or Spyders or something.) But whenever we ball, we go as a team. Last time I played, these guys were being asses. We offered to play them in a speedball type field (Haybells.) They refused to play with us becuase we had Ions, we offered that we use their Tippys, becuase we knew that they would still lose becuase they never worked as a team.
That had really nothing to do with your question (i think), but I would say there are asses with good guns, but where I live, we are all family.

I agree with you about 99%. The 1% i dont is that of course you do not have a great gun, it was back in the 80's we have new companies and new technology to make some great guns out there. Also, there are more types of paintball, like Airball and if you do not know what that is, its a fastpace game with bunkers filled with air, usually played with people with "1500 dollar markers". Not all the guns are 1500 dollars, some are cheap that have been gradually upgraded from scratch because of so many aftermarket parts. Just go out and buy a nice Spyder imagine for 110-130 dollars, get a nice electro hopper, and a compressed air tank and your set. Then upgrade that a bit, and move on.

well...i think it may discourage new players, because they think its a waste of time, that theyll just get owned everytime...but really,a field setting a 5bps max is very un realistic lol, because then the guys with the high end guns might aswell pick up a spyder lol..because if shot a dm5,and its hard to keep under 5bps when your shooting..
but you dont need 1000 dollar gun to do good..i have a mech cocker, and i take out the guys with dm5s and pl shockers..

Remember when you were a newbie? We all were. It's a part of everything, not just paintball.
You only get as good as the people you play against.

i think that it does discourage some new players when somebody whose been playin for 2+ yrs is unloading on newbs and just scaring them for the fun of it. but i do think it takes newbs getting shot with a higher end gun to stop playing scared and see there is more to ballin than going to a field just to hide behind the nearest bunker till the game is over. i remember when i started out ballin i would walk by the hyper ball course and i would see ppl with e-bladed cockers other higher end guns than my rental tippy playin. i would watch all that paint fly through the air and watch em get hit and it scared me. i never wanted to play speedball. then during a woodsgame i got bunkered right on the top of my head by a guy usin an ion. i had a nice little bump there for a few days but i realized it wasnt so bad playin against those higher end guns. after that i played a game of speedball and i been playin that ever since.

The gun won't enhance you're playing, just limit it.
And when I was first starting speedball, everyone had Timmy's and Karni's while I was stuck with my mech cocker. I'd hit a 40 tape bunker every time and still shoot people. Sure, paint was getting dumped on me but I didn't give a ****.
If kids are afriad of fast guns then maybe they should just go play golf.

I have given up on the surrender idea- it seems to confuse them and cause more hassels. I just shoot them just not as much. Maybe just hit them once or twice instead of ripping them.

paintball guns scaring people? unless they are shooting hot, i don't see why they should.
Paintball players scaring newbies? that is a different story all together...
