Okay, I have hust taken up paintball after dropping airsoft due to playability (word?), and I read a lot about paint wiping. I guess this is where soemone gets shot, and decides to be an assclown and just wipes the paint away and keeps playing. What is done to discourage this? In airsoft usually, at a field if you are caught not calling your hits, then you can get a lifetime ban from the field and get bad rep everywhere. What is done about this in paintball? It also seems like a much bigger problem in paintball, because more people do it.

In pb, if u wipe and u do it consistently, you get bonusballed. bonusballing is basically shooting the wiper while hes walking off the field with his back turned...

People who wipe are gay, unless they get caught.

I have wiped once or twice (not in any tourneys) just against newbs so i can keep mowing them. It pays to be honest.

I wiped friendly fire occasionally, but if it comes from the other team I just raise my gun and walk off the field. Its nice to keep some honor while playing.

I wipe....all the time

Too many kids dont have the right attitude when they step onto a field....I dont care if its a bunch of rec-ballers...or gridlock....Im gonna wipe....shoot me in the face. Or shoot me until I walk off the field.

then its people like u who are taking this sport down.....i don't wipe i play fair and if i get hit that just means i need to get better and work harder

Wiping is cheating. Plain and simple. Paintball started as a sport about honor and character. It started as a sport about playing fair and being a good sport.

What you said right there just undermines the very principles paintball was founded upon. No I'm not going to shoot you in the face. I am going to shoot you and when you are hit, you damned well better have the basic decency to call yourself out when you are out. Why? Because that is playing by the rules. That is playing the game right.

Cheating is not part of the game. I will say that here and now because someone is going to say it sooner or later. Cheating is not part of the game, it never was, and it damned better not be in the future.

I have reffed woodsball AND speedball. I have reffed both, and I have played both. So don't tell me that I don't know what I am talking about because I never experienced it.

Cheating is wrong, it always has been. Whether you get caught or not it doesn't matter, it is still cheating.

It is people like that, people that will blatantly cheat and not give a flying rat's ass about it, that bring the name of the sport down. It is these kinds of people that put a negative image on the game. It is these kinds of people who make woodsballers hate speedballers so much (in general). Because cheating is wrong, and people like this don't care.

Well thats the way you look at it...I look at it that I HAVE to stay alive....no matter what. As a team-member, someone on my team MUST get the flag and hang it...any other options arent useful. I never said wiping isnt cheating...it is. And if you can do it well, you'll climb the ladder faster. Its an art, not just something anyone can do well. If you're a ref, and you can catch me, pull me....and a team mate or 2....thats the chance I take, and the confidence I have in my ability to wipe or mask hits.

how about practicing and getting better so u don't have to wipe ??? its called skill.....u might have a "skill" at wiping but u still are a low-life paintballer if u rely on it like that

Armo, that is what the sport STARTED out as. Now the sport has evolved, and its better off this way.

Wiping is cheating, but who hasn't cheated before?

Name one pro who doesnt cheat?
Hell name one player on a #1 team in an tourny who hasn't wiped....

How is the sport better off in an environment that promotes cheating, bad sportsmanship, and disrespect of authority among other things? That just doesn't make sense to me.

If you think it is better off that way, then serious thought needs to be taken on how much your parents didn't teach you about ethics and standard decency.

Just because other people do it doesn't mean it is ok.

"Locking someone in your basement and beating them is torture. But who hasn't tortured someone before?"

Same scenario, just because others do it, doesn't make it right. It doesn't give you free liscense to do it too.

I think its stupid and gives pbers a bad name that you are confessing to cheating, and I think that it goes on a lot more often than a game that relies on you not being a cheating ass, like you are admitting to being. Cheaters do not deserve to play at all, and should be banned from the sport.

Armo, no offense, but do you even play tourny ball? It is a totally different experience than being out in the woods.

Action Bob from Blue's Crew, as well as Blue himself. They were pros longer than most of the kids on this forum have been alive.

All "pro" constitutes is being sponsored and having money provided for you to play. That is all. It does not mean you are above anyone. In fact, if you cheat that much as a "pro" you are less than most for you lack of moral standing.
