A Newbs Question of Ethics
1) WIPING - Okay, I know wiping is cheating but if a ref calls I haven't been hit should I wipe it off and continue? (My scenario was that people saw me getting hit but I didn't know where since I was hit on my pant's button and the ref came over and said I was clean, but then when he walked away I noticed it was on my pants.) I know it sounds unplausible but the only time paintballs break when I'm wearing overalls is when I get hit somewhere hard, or someone shoots me from less than 10 feet away.
2) Should I continue wearing overalls since I know that when I'm wearing it paintballs don't break on me? They just ricochet off my body.

If the ref claims u havn't been hit then the hit doesn't exist. don't wipe it, just continue playing, in other words "play on"
tournament level gear is designed to try to get bounces. I don't see any problem w/ u wearing overalls that give u bounces. I'll just aim for ur head or gun then.

I agree. As a ref, if I call you clean, you are clean. If you really want to be a good sport and call yourself out, you can. Don't wipe it -- that will get people pissed off if they see you do it, and its not the greatest habit to get into; especially in the rec-ball world.

I got hit square on the arm once and the ref called me clean. Even though there was this white splat of paint on my arm. I didn't wipe it or anything. I just kept shooting.

the ref calls you clean so you are free from all guilt. You could be a good sport and call yourself out and be nice and make everyone happy or play on until the ref notices the spot.

I will go along with all of the other posts. Don't EVER wipe because that is cheap crap, but if you get hit and the ref, who is the law of the game, calls you clean then you are given direct allowability to play on. It is not cheap if a ref tells you that your clean because it is your job to play, not call if your hit or not, that is of course the refs job so let him do it.

If the ref says you are clean then you are clean. Now would I try to slide or rub a hit off in the course of a game, not wiping it really though, just making sure a slide happens to be in the right spot, or picking the time an unobvious hit occurs, to do my run through..... Of course not

It's a question of ethics. You just play how you feel. The "good" thing to do, is to call yourself out, but the ref called you clean. I personally would call myself out. Thats not the right answer, but that's how I feel. Play how you feel
