Starting to Paintball
Hi all. My name is Bobby, and I have decided to start paintballing. ATM I'm currently looking at the 98 Custom Tippman gun to purchase, and have a few questions about the gun and paintballing.
1. Should I buy the 98 Tippman as my first gun? If yes, should I buy the powerpack - the one that comes with the accessories (goggles, hopper, c02, etc.), or should I purchase them seperately. I do feel that the things that come with the power packs are sort of cheap, I dunno.
2. If not the 98, any gun reccomendations?
3. How much is entree to a paintball court?
4. How much is a c02 fill up?
5. This sort of relates to my first question, so, if I don't get the pack, what brand of :
Goggles
Hoppers
C02 Tanks
Other necessary equipment (besides like paintballs)
should I get?
Thanks. All help is appreciated!

If you are going to be playing at a field, then I would'nt recommend a tippmann. I would buy a spyder Imagine.
You can get VForce vantage goggles, 12volt revvy, 20 oz pure energy co2 tank, and possibly a different barrel.

Could you elaborate on that? How much are these Spyders, and why would I want one to play at fields? I just want to have a versatile one.

You can buy Imagine's for around 100 bucks.
If you are going to play speedball you will want it, because it is electric. It is versatile because you can use it in speedball and woodsball.

If you search, there are tons of threads that will answer your basic questions. Yes, you can use co2 on it.

yeah i would suggest the imagine a good 1 to begin with although tippys are very very reliable but don't shoot as fast as the imagine i am not saying the imagine isn't reliable though

All markers require CO2, or Compressed air as their power source. There are many many MANY MANY different ways and designs to take the energy stores as CO2 or Air and making it send a paintball at 200mph...
Spyders are good markers.
Now people are going to come in and say that tippmanns have more upgrades (for which they DONT), and they can take a beating (why would you beat your marker, and Spyders can take the abuse too), and that they are cheap (many other options).
I suggest a piranha. any model will work nicely. Youg et what you pay for.

I as a beginner went with the Piranha and it was a good deal. I bought a kit and of course bought new goggles, a mask, and a barrel, but the gun was reliable. Spyders and Tippy's are fine as well, but I am just going with what I know and that is that you may here a lot of crap about Piranhas, but from what I've experienced, they are a good deal. I'd go with the GTI. I thinks thats what it's called.

Yup yup yup, you can get a cheap and mabey used piranha on ebay.
For your first gun, I wouldnt make it that big of a deal because you'll want to keep changing guns.

Exactly Right! It is in fact your first gun so either you will make so many changes to it that it won't even be the same gun or you'll just buy a better one down the line when you become better.
Hey and deathsquad, where did you get that sig? I too am a PMI owner and that looks pretty awesome.

GEt the spyder, you might be using it for a while, or at least until you upgrade.

Wow guys, thanks a bunch for all your comments. My friend has a viewloader for sale, his old gun, not sure what kind it is, but he wants 80, maybe a viewloader Pro?? He's including a 20 oz. c02. I probably will buy a new one for cheap. thanks guys.
