I believe they are an electric eye in some guns that look for paint being dispensed from the hopper. If paint is dropping by, the bolt wont fly forward and fire, to avoid "chopping" paint, which is when the bolt closes on a paintball and it breaks up inside your gun.

I see you don't have a gun with eyes eithe jimihendrix. Eyes are paintball sensors. They sence the paint in your breech, instead of a ball just randomly dropping into the gun and the gun firing whenever you pull the trigger, your gun will not fire untill it sees something in the breech. Some eyes are different you have the PDS, Break beam, Laser and whatnot. Eyes are a great + to any paintball gun.

Also, with your eyes you might also want to look for some better ball detents. And also if you dont know what the ball detents are.
They are blocking devices for paintballs to keep them in place in the breech so the dont fall backwards or out of the barrel.

Eyes make sure there is a ball in the breach before it shoots.

They come stock in some guns. If you want them for your spyder you have to have a board that accepts them. They cost around $10, but the boards are 50.

this is such a noobish thread, even though it is in the new players section.eyes are an electronic device that is used to see paint so that there is no balls broken in the breech.
