even though I haven't played in a long time, I do know that always go for better protective equipment first. I did just spend $80 on a brand new mask instead of a new hopper or barrel. A good rule that I follow is:
1. Mask
2. Hopper
3. Air system ( if your gun supports co2 or hpa)
4. Barrel
5. Paint
6. Marker
next I will be getting a new tank and hopper but I am also planning on getting a Spyder VS-2 in a couple of months. Hope that helps

So I played my first night of Paintball last night and I had a Blast! The first game i played was Woods-ball capture the flag. I actually won the game for my team! There were a few "hardcore" guys all decked out head to toe in camo, with Markers all over them, packs and balls in every spot you can think of tricked out A5's and all they did was sit back and shoot or hide in a tree stand and shoot at people. They rarely ever took a chance or move up every far. Same thing happened when we played Speed ball. I found my self always up in the action, but they would just sit back. Is that odd or is that more of how you should be playing? ANYWAY...

I've run into a little confusion with which marker to get. One of the owners of the field i played at told me that the Spyder VS1 and VS2 are both BAD choices. She told me that they do not carry those markers because they are very unreliable and sold a bunch that people had issues with and stopped carrying them (bolt problem or something). she said that 98% of what Spyder puts out is great. She carried the Pilot, and the MR1. If some one had their heart set on an VS1 or VS2 they would order it in, but will not stock it. I was also told that by the refs, but they could be brainwashed working there and all. Cause their stories sounded pretty much they same. I was told that an Ion was the way to go (which they happened to carry.). What are your thoughts on this, was she just blowing smoke or is this true?

Sorry for the long winded response/question!
Thank you!

I finally got use my MR1 yesterday and was awesome. It worked great in clear part of the day. But it excelled in the rain. my friends guns were crapping out. they all had either 98 customs, sonics, or E99. mine was not stopped by the pouring rain.

I own a VS1 AND a VS2 and I had not any big problems with them. The only issue I had was a recocking problem with my VS2, but a bit of lub in the ASA and everything was fine.

The Vibe and the SP1 seems to be nice markers too. I never tried any of them, but I heard good things on them. Check at your local field, and try one of them if you can.

What about the Spyder Sonix? Great entry-level marker, good for woodsball if you get it in gray
