Do NOT upgrade your marker. Trust me, theres not much you can do to make it better. At most, get a barrel if you plan on having this marker for 6+ months.
Buy a mechanical marker. Electronics for beginners aren't too good.
Play with this marker until your better. A shiny fast gun won't make you better.
98 Customs are no more customizable then any other marker. It just says custom in the name as a marketing ploy for new players. You can put a flatline and perhaps a cyclone feed (both of which I dont really reccomend), thats about it for 98 custom specific upgrades.
Buy any PMI Piranha. The best beginner markers there are. Pick one, theres many types all for different prices. You get what you pay for.

Threads have dropped? But hey everyone has their own oppinion i guess, so there is one for the Not a good thread side, doesnt hurt my feelings at all bro. Thanks for using CONSTRUCTIVE critisism and not just saying i hate this thread, lol.

Now also I am wondering what if any is the age limit for most fields of battle?
I have aten year old would he be able to play as well?
Using that it would probably be either imagine or tippmann 98 custom. Age is usually somewhere around 10 or 12. Go to the field and ask first about your brother.
depends, do you play woodsball? If so, get the flatline, and there realy isnt such thing as a "Sniper" Barrel because anything above 14-16 inches will not help your accuracy at all. But the Flatline causes a flat trajectory meaning you can shoot way easier thru brush.
Alpha I would have to disagree with you on the whole "dont upgrade your gun" thing. I bought a Tippmann A5 and have seriously upped it. Sure, It might not be quite a Dm5 yet, but I think i can get about 13 bps with a double trigger and a Rufus Dawg bolt. I mean, for things like woodsball and mounds, thats all you need. Heck, I can play speedball pretty well with this thing. (I'd compare my gun to an Ion that is just a bit low on gas. It shoots hard, but just not as fast as a fully gassed Ion would)
PS. I'm trying to keep constructive criticism, lol.
**EDIT**I also have a Smart Parts All-American. But maybe this whole "upgrading low-end guns" makes more sense to me than to you since I plan to keep my gun indefintely as a project gun, yet most people only keep a Tippmann until they have enough money for like an Impulse.

and your gun is huge, heavy, and is still limited by the fact that it is still an electronic sear tripper(i think u said u have e-grip)
An Ion on the other hand is an electropneumatic, open bolt blowforward. It is also waaaaaay lighter, smaller more efficient, and FASTER. Not to mention that it isn't limited by that POS cyclone feed.

Ok.
A)The cyclone is not a POS.
B)I do not have an E-grip, read the post!
C)"FASTER." There are regulations at fields for a reason, man. How fast a gun shoots is irrelevant, because you can't just shoot as fast as you want. Also, if you meant "Faster" in a bps point of view, why would you really need "faster" than 13 bps. Any higher, unless you are a backman, is quite a waste of paintballs, in my opinion. Sure, the Ion might be more efficient and lighter, but does it really, honestly look like I care? I'm trying not to flame anyone here, but my A5 really is actually fine for any kind of play. It might not be as light as an Ion, but they do compare in size. Put a 68/45k and full Halo on an Ion, youve got a pretty stinkin big gun.
