Hi! I'm brand new here, but if I get into this like I think I am going to, I'll definitely be here more often. I found a used Tippmann A5 with lots of mods, and a mask for $250. The seller lives near me, and is willing to demonstrate that it's totally functional in person. The mods he lists are: E-Grip, Flatline Barrel, A5 Stock, fake mag with storage, powertube, powerspring, and x7 hopper. Below is the pic he sen me. Do you guys think it's a good deal?

250$? That is a good deal, but I would rather have a 98 than A-5. Just my opinion :/

*riot* CHARGE!!! *exit riot*
Just kidding. I've just never trusted A5 because my cousin kept chopping paint because of the cyclone thing. I think it was just that one, not the whole line, but I've always like the 98 Pro more.

It's just liek any other spyder with a mechanical frame. a solid marker, but no speed at all.

I really liked the spyder fenix when it was around...arguably the best spyder of it's time...now I'd say the VS2 is the best (havent shot or seen the new RSX yet)

How's the reg on the RSX? Idk, i just really like the classic series of spyder better...like the fenix, Imagine, old Electra, E-99 avant...yea..those were the good old days when no one cared about guns better than spyder in my area...

The reg on the RSX is supposed to be a bob long knockoff. I like the fact the focuse on making the newer RS regs more CO2 friendly....That was what made the vs2 not run right on CO2

I was thinking that maybe the VL triad should be considered. It's cheap to get, and it'll allow a newb to see if they like the sport first, before committing large amounts of money to it. With a replacement barrel (BTW it uses the same threads as spyders) it can become quite competent. for £75, you can get everything you need to start the sport, inc.
VL Triad Marker
VL 200 Shot Capacity Hopper
JT Radar Mask with limited edition strap
Airsource 4oz Adaptor
Airsource 4oz Cannister
150 Shot Pot
150 Paintballs
okay, you'd have to get a bigger co2 canister, and the marker is flawed (for example, the shiny barrel gives you away, and it is somewhat loud) But i thought it was a good package.

Try looking on a couple of retailer sites or even amazon or ebay. Take some time to look and find out the kind of style you want to play (Speedbal, recball, scenario) and then ask again for some advice. Thats what I did and got some stellar suggestions from the people here.
