Pneumatic or Electric Hoppers?
I just bought a 2003 spyder imagine and was wondering if I would be better off getting a pneumatic or electric hopper.

Electric. Get a 12v revvy w/ x-board or an empire reloader.

id get a halo-b. i know its a little much for a spyder but when you move your way up into higher markers you can just transfer the halo to your new gun

i don't think anybody here's got a pneumatic hopper....so i don't think everybody should be saying electric cause i don't think anybody here uses/used one.

i saw one, its basically the same thing as the A5 cyclone feed but smaller. takes air out of your gun from the recocking procedure to power something that agitates the paintballs. and its for any gun too, not just tippmanns this time. but personally i dont think its worth the money, you'd be better off with a 12v revvy.

There is a reason that not too many people have pneumatic hoppers. I have seen a couple come through our field, but why go through the hassle of having that when you can get a tried and true electric that will suit your needs perfect, and be transferable to any gun you get.
The pneumatics agitate differently than the electrics, and it seems to me that the electrics system would be more efficient at agitating then any of the pneumatics ive seen.

my question is air power has been tested and tried, dentist use air-powered tools, if you've even seen someone take a tire off a car using a thing that looks like a drill (i don't know what it's called) those are powered by air, lot's of things that work good work off compressed gases why wouldn't it work good for a hopper?

well nobodys' made one yet. i honestly dont' think air would be good at all. there would be air hoses running to your hopper for starters, and then you would have to deal with leaks on your hopper(which is the one thing people CAN count on not breaking, unless they have low batteries) plus you'd get less shots for a tank fill and you'd need seprate regs adn stuff for the hopper. it'd be a huge mess that nobody wants to deal with.

That makes sense to me... A pneumatic hopper just seems a lot more simplified than an electronic hopper.

That's not true at all... first of all I've seen them being sold on the web for $50. Second they run off of excess air,so it wouldn't use any of the air in your tank and it eliminates the need for fancy electronics.

Most air powered tools arent made of plastic, and they take a lot more pressure than the excess air off a blowback to operate. I work in a shop where we do tons of work on vehicles/woodworking/metalworking/a lot of other things like that so I use air powered tools quite a bit, but a pneumatic hopper is completely different from most of those.
With electric hopper everything is contained within the hopper, with pneumatics you will have air hoses running from the gun up to the hopper, which may get in the way but i cant really say. I dont think there is the need for an agitating pneumatic hopper because you still cant reach above 13 BPS without force feed, and electrics already do a great job of agitating without any troubles except having to change the battery.
