for 1 day of rec balling would a tank that size be big enough?

I assume you are talking about steel tanks. The 72/3000s are heavy. You might want to invest in a carbon fiber tank. Something like a 68/3000.

yea if u have the money definately go for carbon fiber...and you should be fine wit around 7-900 shots

That's enough to get a 68/4500. It holds more shots than a 68/3000, and is the same size.
