please tell me about this marker
i'm brand new to the sport and i maybe trading my $550 strider knife for this marker. this is what the owner told me about the gun:

It is an auto cocker in excellent condition. It has been used but has been well taken care of and works great. Its a great gun, I love it, but I really want a Strider. It has quite a few add ons : new barrel, bolt, drop forward, front block, electronic hopper, and a nitrogen tank(won't freeze up like compressed air. Very air efficient I can play all day without a nitrogen refill. The gun itself ran about $300 and the tank is anywhere from $150-200, the dye boomstick barrel was about $120 and the front block I believe was a little over $100, the drop forward was $20, and the bolt was about $30 or so. I will add in a mask and I will give you the rhino tank cover with it.

so, does this sound like a good deal? can anyone tell me more about this marker?
thanks for the help.

$550 is askin too much for a mech cocker. you can pick one up now for around $300-$350.
but wow, that's a beautiful ocker

That's how much it cost him of course, but Autocockers don't resell worth a damn. Especially mechanical ones.
It is kinda sharp looking, and the hopper and tank would add to the price slightly.

Yes hopper tank and mask add, but resale for these especially mechanical is not worth 550

well, the resale for the knife, even though it is like-new, is less than $550. it's actually closer to $400. so looks like the deal would be about equal.
but, can you tell me more about the marker? what do you mean by a "meck cocker"? are these good markers? reliable? maintenance intensive? suitable for woodball and speedball? can someone post a website where i can read more about this marker?
the only markers i know anythign about are tippmann 98c, A-5, and the smart parts ion. how would these compare to this one?
thanks, again. sorry if these are really basic questions.

I agree.
Ok, DGH, hear me out here, and guys, correct me if I'm wrong on any of this junk. A "mechanical Autococker" is just that. It is mechanical, meaning it doesnt have a battery or electronic firing modes, and it is an Autococker, meaning you do not have to re-cock it after each shot. That loader is Ricochet loader, plenty good enough since you would only have a Single-trigger. Get a double trigger later, and you would probly need a Halo B or an Evvy 2. The tank looks decent, a 68ci (cubic inch) tank I think. The Dye Rhino cover is a great thing, it keeps the tank from slipping off your shoulder when firing. That barrel looks like an older Smart-Parts All-American barrel. Those are pretty good nowadays, I'm not sure how good the older ones are. The drop is pretty nice. Also, last thing, i THINK that Autocockers require maintenance pretty often. According to Paintball Atlanta, the field I play at, Cockers will break the most and require a pretty paintball-smart person to tune. Guys, once again, correct me, but constructively, if I'm wrong. To wrap it up, I wouldn't do that trade. If you want an Autococker, go to a website like xpaintball.com and get it for 289.00 (I think that's the price there) The 2005 is a wonderful gun to shoot, I've played a few games with one. Every few game, though, they need to be tuned. After a few times, you kinda get the hang of it.

over all else, the gun would likely not sell for more than 200, unless it was some rare limited edition that people wanted to collect. The tank adds some value, as does the hopper.
Good enough.
Autococker is a type of semi-auto, there's plenty of other guns that don't need to be cocked for each shot.
With a double trigger you would still be lucky to get into the high single digit numbers...like 8 and 9. The hopper would be fine.
As for breaking down, Everytime I've has a breakdown with one of my 'Cockers or any of my other semi's it was because I was messing with it.
Think "If you fool around with a thing for very long you will screw it up." Pretty much true.

^^^^^^ is exactly right. Depending on the tank i would say the whole set up might be worth in the $300 range. Cockers do take some work and knowledge to get timed correctly but once it is timed just don't mess with it and it will won't ever screw up. If i were you i would look elsewhere to find either a better mech or an electro for much cheaper. I would also find out what kind of tank, hydro date, and what kind of internals the gun has and then decide how much it is worth.
