Buying first gun
Im in the market for my first gun. I will be spending up to $300 for the gun only. I have decided against a Tippmann Cust. Pro, too slow and not pleased with accuracy. Very interested in a Spyder Electra 05. Many have suggested a Autococker.
What im looking for in a gun:
reliability
accurate!!! I dont want the need to arch the gun to hit target (dont mind buying a barrel)
quick (not blazing fast, but ok too)
basically good out of the box. I dont want to have to upgrade to make it "that much better".
Found the Electra for $229!
Will the Electra meet my needs? What else is recommended for around $300?

Don't get the electra.
I would go for a Smart Parts Ion,or Diablo Wrath, both are under 300.

ion or wrath
imo ion and wrath r both better then the electra. and if u got the electra would it be just for the trigger? ive heard sum complaints that the trigger is hard to use and ur fingers have to be in the same place on either side or u might get messed up.

I think the trigger is cool, but I used one breifly staurday and thought it was great. Seemed to be quite accurate, and no problems with the trigger.
Im just wondering from somebody who has had one for a while. Do they still like it? WHat would they suggest otherwise?

229 for an electra isnt worth it. its still a spyder. get a wrath or ion like other people suggested, and an hpa tank

I laugh
Accuracy is really depending on the barrel you're using. Do not knock a marker until you actually try to find a barrel for it that makes it accurate. Also all spyders are basically the same, minus a crappy electro trigger here and there. I wouldn't waste my money.

well do you already have a compressed air tank and a fast hopper? Because you WILL need those if you get a diablo wrath or an ion. If you got an autococker then you will need a compressed air tank. And if you got an electra then you would need a fast hopper.

I am not concerned with the accessories that will be required. I will get what will be neccessary as far as proper tank and hopper. I am more concerened if I would like an autococker. Would it give me problems? Why are spyders not worth it? Would a Tippmann satisfy me (A-5 w/e trigg)? Please read my first post. I dont have the luxury of testing all I "think" I may like first. I was hoping on getting some feedback on the few I inquired about. Instead, I got "dont get _____ , it sucks. Basically.
Once again, I want a gun that will...
not chop a lot of balls (any and all guns can chop, I know this)
be quick (I dont "need" 30 bps)
not fall apart
be around $300
I know its easy to say whats best when its what you currently have. But if its good, what makes it so good. If its bad, what makes it so bad. I will not base my purchase on "its the best" or "it sucks, dont waste your $". I only need to know WHY you do or dont like Spyders, Tippmanns, or Autocockers.
I know Tippmanns last forever, Spyders are fast, and Autocockers shoot long and flat. I want the best of these worlds. Maybe thats asking too much, but im sure something reasonably priced offers most of that.
My main interests are:
Spyder Electra 05 @ $229
Tippmann A-5 e trigg @ $299
Autococker Prostock or WGP 04/05 $300-ish
I appreciate any help guys.
yet I am open to any brand.

Lol yea, it sounds like your looking for the perfect marker!! Arn't we all. Tippmann a-5 hits like 15 bps, is pretty accuarate, you can get a flatline barrel for more range. Thats not a bad idea. The Autococker is fast and shoots darts but i've seen a few of them break down. You could get an Iom for around that price. I'm not much of a fan of Ion's but they are a good gun.
I'll suggest the A-5 again but there are a lot of paintball guns out there.

K, if I went with the A5, do you recommend r/t or E trigg? Is the accuracy comprable to the Autococker with the right barrel? I havent met too many fans of the flatline. was told to get JJ or progressive.
I just wonder if the E trigg is worth it. Can i shoot as fast with r/t?
Thanks for the positive info!!!!!!

any gun can have good accuracy, the gun has nothing to do with that (except maybe air efficiency) accuracy is up to the barrel and paint a person uses, and the conditions. a tippmann will likely never break down, as long as you take care of it well. the way to stop guns from chopping is getting a faster hopper, ie egg or halob or revvy. an A-5 would be a great marker for woodsball, not so much for speedball because of the weight issue. a good marker for both would be a spyder imagine. goodluck!

Just to let you know, you'll be paying way over 300$ if you get an air tank and fast hopper. Good new hopper is 60$ cheapest, and tanks are hella expensive(air, not Co2)!

I think I am going to get the Electra w/ halo hopper. see what $$$ I have left and get the best air system I can get. I will probably get a 20oz co2 just cuz their cheap for a backup.
anyone recommend tank type and size?

I'd get the Diablo Wrath or Smart Parts Ion, if your new to the game, your not gonna want an Autococker because your going to have adjust nonstop, timing, and for a new player its hard. Wrath's have Eyes you pretty much won't ever chop a ball in it and Ions have Eyes also, I'd choose Wrath, but thats just me.
