First gun for woodsball
Im about to buy my first gun for woodsball mainly and im not partial to any brand or style. Please give opinions and recommendation for what to get.
Dependable, Accurate, doesnt need to be 30BPS
Im intereseted in:
I have about $300
Autococker 05 Pro Stock
05 Spyder Electra
will consider Tippmann but not particularly interested.
Please state why or why not to get a certain gun. Dont just say it sucks. Feedback please!
Should I look at any others? (ps-dont want an ION)

Phantom: Teaches you shot placement, it's fun to play stock class, you save money on paint.

Here are some questions that'll help people if you answer them:
1. Have you ever played?
2. Have you ever shot any of the guns/any guns at all (even if it was in a backyard)
3. Do you know what kind of style of gun you're looking for? (Simple and dependable or sleek and fast)
I recommend a Tippmann. IDK if you've ever shot one, but they're very well built, easy to clean/disassemble, every upgrade is available for almost every gun they offer, and they're very affordable. If you haven't played that much, then you don't even need to spend $300 bucks, just buy a simple gun that you know you'd like and then slowly put the money in, like get a barrel, then a new hopper if you feel the need, and just work your way up to building the gun you want, instead of spending $300 on a gun that you may want/need to buy stuff for it immediately and be left with not enough cash to make the gun that you want.

Yes, ive played
wasnt crazy about the Tippmann
Spyder Electra was good, very fast
have shot a Cocker.
Im thinking most about a Cocker 05 Pro Stock. Will I have problems with it? At a local shop they said, once its set up, dont touch it. Keep it cleen and shoot the crap out of it. They said it was pretty dependable, dead accurate and fast enough for woodsball.
What do you guys think?

Dependable and accurate I'd go with Tippmann, can't really go wrong with that. If you want dependability then do NOT get the autococker, they are so freakin hard to maintain. The Spyder Electra is OK also, but it's more for speedball and if you got it then it would be the same as the Imagine. So yeah...

If you are going' to play in the woods an autococker is not the way to go. You want a gun that's simpler in design. Less moving parts. One that is rugged, and can take a beating. Everyone says TippMann for a woodsball gun. The are durable. It's really your preference. If your interested in an autococker, you might wanna think bout' playin speedball. Ever play it?

I used a custom pro and wasnt impressed. How is an A-5 different? If I got one, I was intending to get one with the e trig. Does it shoot that much better? I do know that a good barrel is essential.

The A-5 and the 98 have a lot in common and a lot different. The biggest difference is the A-5 cyclone feed. Its a one of a kind feed system that is CO2 powered. Dosn't need any battiery. Makes chops almost impossible and comes installed on the gun. With an e-trigger is shots like 15-17 bps no problem, the cyclone feed does its job so you don't need any extra $$$ for a fast hopper.
As far a barrels goe, the stock barrel on an A-5 isn't very good. A J&J barrel will do well, but if you want the best get a flatline. Unmatched range with that barrel. The accuracy with that barrel is a little hard to figure out but once you get used to shoting it u'll also be very accurate.
You don't seem to key on getting a tippmann. Thats understandable i guess, everyone has one.... (maybe there is a reason for that??) and you want to be original.
If you are fixed on the autococker then you can get it, but u have a high risk of running into trouble with it. Its accuracy is awsome though, you wouldn't need to upgrade the barrel on it. The person who told you not to touch it once it's set up knows what hes talking about, cockers do not like to be messed around with.
Personally if I was u, i'd get the A-5 but sometimes you got to walk your own path and find out for your self if the cocker is ok or not......

Im not set for or against anything yet. Just wasnt impressed with the Custom Pro. I do like the cyclone on the A5. If it can be comprable in accuracy with decent speed (15 bps is fine) then that will work for me. I do want accuracy over extremely exceptional distance. J&J sounds good, but whta about a stiffi? Are the A5's hard to clean if you do chop a ball?

That only works with explosive tipped arrows.

Tippmann A-5. The E-grip is ok, but the electronic sear tripper has very little potential (in my opinion, I DO NOT INTEND TO START A FLAME WAR) I would get an A-5 and a rufus dawg upgrade kit level 2. That's what I have and it is a very good upgrade kit.
EDIT if you get the upgrade kit, then you would need a pod pack and a few pods. You go thru a good bit of ammo
