New Pballer Here
Hello, ima new pballer. ive been paintballing since last march...ive beeen using a tippmann until now (great starter gun!) and ive been planning on upgrading for awhile now.
Ive got the cash but i dont got the smarts. im not dumb but im not paint smart ( i no the difference between a tippmann and a angel) so i was thinking about getting a Ion. Both my friends have Ions and i here good and bad thigns about them...most the bads dont have to do with performance but with them being plastic and stuff.
I was also eyeing up a Autocoker (prostock) or a 2k4 but im not sure...does a prostock come mechanical? or will i need to buy a eblade to get here shooting 10-17 bps? so any info you can give me about Ions, Cockers, Wraths please do.
Thanks
-Cody

Yeah, the prostock is mechanical. If you want a cocker, check ebay, they sell cheap ebladed cockers on there for around 250-300.
Ions are okay, i dislike them alot though and they are very easy to break if you don't know what your doing. Wraths are good. B2k4's are amazing but their regulators suck horribly.
It would be nice if you told us how much money you're lookin to spend on your next gun.

Do you have a Electro hopper? Or a HPA tank?
The guns of choice for 250 if you dont have HPA.
Wrath
B2k4
If you have compressed air.
Wrath
B2k4
Ion
If you don't have an electro hopper you won't be able to shoot ropes but the eyes will keep you from chopping paint.

i wouldnt get the prostock. Its very heavy compared to my spyder which is kinda wierd when u think of price and the trigger pull is heavy. Much heavier then my imagine. And i havnt seen anyone shoot near to 17bps wit one. Id go wit the ion unless u want to get a eblade for the cocker and can stand to carry i heavy gun around. I know about the pull and stuff cuz my friend has one and he let me use it today and wanted to use my imagine. I hated it lol I didnt really mean to burn the prostock and no effence to anyone who has em it was just to heavy for my taste. So conclusion Ion or Wrath

I've seen a karnivore shoot 54 CPS.
He's talking about shooting 17 with an eblade which is fairly easy.
Back on tizopic. I think you should go buy yourself a nice used cocker if you want autocockers. Or, go to your local proshop and check and see if they have some nice guns in your pricerange and try them all out.

Go to your local field n' look around. Go into the autococker part of this forum n' do some research. They are some work to maintain, but if you do, They don't miss.

The Ion isn't a bad buy. Out of the ones you have listed i'd get that..... that would be pushing your budget big time becouse the Ion is like $290 new, cheaper used if u want to go that route.... I personally just got and Odyseey RPM for $180, it runs on CO2, shots up to 19 bps, has ramping modes, is tournament leagal and it performs almost as good as an Ion, I'm going to compare the 2 side by side in the near future.

depending on how hard you play and what kind of game you play (speedball vs woods vs just rec) will determine what kind of gun you need. Ions are cheap and can shoot fairly fast but made from plastic and easy to break. Cockers are heavy but if you know what you are doing they are extrememly reliable. If you play woodsball you might want to just up the tippman you have since they are next to impossible to break. Shop around and maybe wait til after christmas you might find some good stuff on sale.

I am sorry but I have an Ion and it is awesome I have played in some small region tournaments and there is nothing wrong with the gun just read the manual and its not made out of plastic just the shell and that is protecting the internals. but I play front and I just have a blast running diving etc.

the best places to buy markers are either the BST sections of here, pbn, or ebay. Granted you will be buying used but it will save you some money. If you want to buy new i always try to support my local shop but shop around online and you can find some decent deals.
