Decent starter gun
With so many marker manufactures out there I'm having a tough time choosing a marker. I'm not sure wether to go with a electronic or mechanical. But I guess a mechanical one is less hassle? I'd want a gun that is affordable, reliable and I can upgrade here and there (not a tippman though ). I was thinking maybe a Spyder TL-X, MR-1 etc...
thanks.

With an electric marker you need to give it batteries once in a while. But i suggest a Spyder Imagine. They are good starter guns. Some of the more experienced players here have imagines. If you get a machanical marker you will eventually want an electric marker. I suggest getting an Imagine.

Thanks for replying. What about in the rain or humid conditions? Will an electronic gun still function properly?
Also, I was looking at some of the Piranha line of markers, are they just as "good" as the spyders?

yes piranhas are of the same quality of marker as spyder, and any spyder part will basically fit on a piranha. i also suggest getting a spyder imagine, it is a good starter gun.

i'm going to agree with them, go with the imagine. spyders and piranhas are carbon copies, and spyders are cheaper, so i guess they'd be better.
as far as humidity goes, it has zero affect on the gun. water doesn't have much either because it won't really get into the trigger frame and if it does those boards are much more resistant to water than say, a cell phone. i think you'd have to dunk it under water to affect anything, and that might not even do it.

spyder imagine. They come wit a charger and rechargable battery. So just charge it while ur not playing. Yes u can play in the rain. And the imagine is really easy to maintain. And if u have any questions about it theres tons of people on here that have em.

Also with 9v rechargable batteries, they wont die in one day of playing even if your playing the whole day. What i do is play a day of gaming with one and recharge it at night, then its ready to go next time you want to play

spyders are designed to be electro markers that can run off co2, i'm buying a refurb one and im gonna use co2, if your real worried go to your local proshop and have them install an anti-siphon tube into the tank for ya. i think its about 10 bucks to install and it will make it harder for any liquid to get in your gun. if your worried about that. but look into an imagine, i'm also buying a revvy for mine just cause an egg can outfeed it and you can get the 12 volt revvy's for like 30 bucks on they bay

I appreciate the replies guys.
I've thought about it and I don't think I need to get some electronic since I'm just going to be playing with friends and none of them have any electronic ones except for one. So I'd like to stick with a mechanical one.
I checked out reviews of the Autococker Trilogy Sports, theres practically nothing bad about the gun. And I can find them at a very reseaonable prices. Right now I'm leaning towards this gun. Any thoughts? what about upgrades for these guns, are there a decent amount of companies making parts for this marker?
thanks again.

ehh i dunno, i would go with a spyder victor 2, or a tippmann 98 custom, i dont really suggest buying many upgrades, except maybe a barrel and a feedneck. anything else would be wasted money, since its just a mech.

Well I don't want a Tippman. Well I've been looking around and I guess I could get an electronic since they are not that much more. I'll also be playing lots of woodsball...so I'm also looking for something that is not too flashy.
Its come down to one of the Spyder guns, TL-R/X or the Imagine if I can find a good deal. Are there any other electronic Spyder markers that are similar in performance as the Imagine (e99, e99 avant, electra, pilot?)
