best marker for around $150?
hey guys im new to paintball&these forums. i just played my first pball game today and it was awesome (i borrowed a friends erradicator marker & co2). ill be needing a marker. what should i get for $150 or less? and a good electric hopper?(i played with a crappy elec. one and it blew up the pballs in the hopper and it was a MESS)
also, for future reference, what is the best upgrade to start with? (for the recommended gun, or can be in general like "trigger")

a good starting gun is the tippmann 98 custom. they are very durable and they dont need that much matence. and u could get a good setup for around 150.

If your looking for an electric try getting a Diablo mongoose....I have one and it is able to shoot around 10 bps and is electric......
For mechanical..get a tippy.

wow that mongoose looks sexy
a friend from the game today recommended this: http://www.xpaintball.com/pieext2k4.html
also, a side question, why are there no feet-per-second (FPS) ratings for the guns? i used to do airsoft (kinda, never really bought anything) and everything there has an FPS rating. i kno with a .68 over 300FPS isnt allowed bc it will shatter the masks.

Those Piranhas are nice, I like them and you don't see a lot of them so you will stand out some. There are no FPS ratings for paint markers because the FPS is adjustable on them.

i like cockers but the mongoose comes electric and with cockers u have to pay 225 for an e2 or like 150 for a worrblade or an e1. go with the mongoose unless u can find an ebladed cocker.

Well, there are many different kinds of autococker. Also they are not usually a good first marker to own. The way they operate is a bit more complicated than a blowback marker (Spyder, Piranha, etc) But they are excellent markers.
Are you wanting electronic or mech?

electric i do alot w/electric stuff like circuit boards and motors. im guessing a motor hits the plate that releases the c02 into the barrel, and since the motor can turn over very fast they can prolly fire full auto

Actually, the trigger activates a switch which activates a solenoid that trips the sear which releases the hammer that strikes the valve pin and opens the valve allowing the air into the bolt to propel the ball and push the bolt back into place and it catches on the sear again unti lthe next trigger pull. But that's on a blowback, it works differently for different markers.
And for $150 I don't think you'll be finding much of an electric autococker. But I don't really know jack about cockers.

Gotta see if mine has eyes on it or not....Im pretty sure it does.....All the new ones have em.
Electric...Get a mongoose.
Mech....Get a Tippy or a Auto
I wouldnt recommend this BUT....
If you want a mechanical to learn the better points of paintball and just want it for a month or two...spend 100 bucks on a Spyder Sonix.
THey look good and they can teach you the beginnings. I would NEVER recommend modifing it or taking it into a competition unless you have too.

Another neat looking gun is the Odyssey RPM.. Now I've never seen it or played with it but it has a lot of features for the dollar and from what I can tell it is an air ram. Course Odyssey's web site is non-existant for some reason..

FPS is adjustable. with mech guns there is a knob on the back. with electros its elctronically adjusted. idk how. its diff for every gun. i never had an electro(gettin one)
ok about that Pirahna. that is the reason i need a new gun. it breaks down alot. i used it 4-5 times and it broke. then i used it a few more and it totally broke. the shop can't fix it. don't get that gun. '
for 150$ don't get an electro. you may just want to get a tippy..learn to aim don't just get a fast gun and spray and pray. go with a spyder xtra which is about 100-120. then you7 have some left over for other stuff.
my bros first gun was a spyder xtra and he loved it. i shot it. its good for a beginer.
