Looking to get into Paintball
I am new to the forums and to paintball. I know a few of the basic names for parts. Marker, Hopper, and a few others but not much. I am looking to buy a marker, and on eBay I see
A package:
A Tippman 98 custom[Used 15 times, cleaned after last use]
Stock Barrel and a 13 Inch Lapco bigshot snipers barrel
Double Trigger installed
2 Twenty oz. Co2 tanks
Three pack came carrying case for 3 guppies(3 included)
V-Force Mask
As of right now thier is a day left, only one bid on it, for 50$ and 1 day left total on it.
I am thinking of getting this because I get a lot of stuff and a good marker for a cheap price. But would like to know some technical information about the gun, and some basic terms about the game.

Here's the thing about buying a VL from Wally World. If you're just gonna play a little and not worry about tourneys, then you'll be fine. You can have all the fun in the world with a mech VL if just want to go out and pop a few shots, maybe get somebody out here or there. But... if the bug bites you, you're gonna want something much better. If you've got $75 to spend I say look for at least some used Piranha eForce for around $50. Then you could get a 20oz co2 with the $25 left over and a gravity hopper would do ok. Then you'll have a little bit better set up than just a mech VL.
Then start saving up for something nicer.

Look for a Spyder Imagine Package on eBay if this falls through. You can find a refurbished one for a good buy. I highly recommend one, they are a good intermediate and beginner gun. Its a good price for the tippy tho

What gun you get should depend on your price range and what type of pb you will be playing. If you're going to be playing in the woods, then the m98c is a great choice. You won't get a more reliable, upgradeable woods gun for that value. In the woods you want something rugged, reliable, and most importantly SIMPLE.
If you're going to be playing speedball (manmade bunkers, usually smaller mirrored fields) you'll want something faster. This is where your price range plays a big part. If you dont have much money, i'd suggest getting a spyder imagine or e99. if you have over 300 for your paintball package, get a smart parts ion. as for your mask, your choices are endless, but you'll definately want something that has a thermal lens to prevent fogging. Don't get a cheapo brand either. Stick with a company like JT or Proto. As for your hopper, definately buy a Viewloader Revolution (aka Revvy). It's cheap, its very light, and if you break the shell, you can replace them for like 6 bucks.

Thanks for all the Suggestions and such. It is not my money to spend, no job atm. So I picked up a Game Face VeXor. Fired it in my Backyard a bit and it seems pretty good. I was just going to use the cheapy 4 oz tank to test it at my house but, it didnt work for some reason. Good thing I bought my 20oz and got it filled.
I spent about 95 total, Gun with mask, 100 balls, hopper, squagee(bad spelling sorry) and 9.5 inch barrel was included.
Probably will play for the first time on wednesday.

haha squagee that sounds so wierd. If your gonna be playing speedball id get a electric hopper. And what kind of mask is it? If it came wit the gun im guessing its gonna be a crappy one. If so check out the pro vantages. Besides that i hope you enjoy ur gun.
