ultra noob thread...sorry in advance lol

ive played paintball about 6 or 7 times and i just got my first gun, a PMI EVO. i havent played with it yet, and i just realized i have absolutely no clue what im doing and what i will do when i get to the place. ive always had the rental guns prepared for me. so:

1) how do i adjust the regulator? (not physically how, i know how to turn a screw, like how do i know its right?)

2) how do i adjust the velocity? (same idea as above, i know what to turn just not how to turn it correctly)

3) when screwing in HPA or CO2 tanks anything i should particularly do or not do? i know to make sure to cock the bolt first.

4) anything else im missing?

5) sorry for asking so many questions...

If the gun has a reg, then it should be adjusted from the factory, so that should be fine.

Velocity you usually turn it in for higher and out for lower, but that can change so if it needs adjusting turn it one way, and if that doesn't work then turn it the other way.

Just screw in the tank and you're ready to go

sick dawg pretty much nailed it for you... it's all straightforward. you cant screw something in the wrong way really.. you turn it one way or you turn it the other... one will drop your velocity (assuming you're turning the velocity screw) and the other way will raise the velocity. and with your tank, just screw it in and have fun.

right but how do i use the machine? where do i put gun etc?

as for the regulator, there is a little screw at the bottom that keeps coming out whenever i dry fire, so i screw it back in, but isnt that the regulator adjustor?

the chrono machine someone (a ref) should show you how to use if you dont know how to.. at least that's what they do around here. and i dont think your reg adjustment screw should be that loose, but if it is, screw it in, look in your owners manual for the pressure your gun is supposed to run at, and adjust it accordingly.

Assuming there is no ref, and you have a table top chrono (red) then heres what you do.

Hit the red button to initialize the machine.
Fire one shot over it
Check the velocity readout and adjust accordingly.

The reg should most likely be around 6-800 PSI.

Just ask the people at the field if you have questions. They will most likely be more than willing to help you.
