it all depends on the barrel, and from what i've heard low end stock barrels not only suck, but vary largely in bore size.

Actually, when I first got my Piranha and still bought my paint at Wally World, the Gameface Scorch fit my stock Piranha barrel very well.
I'm not endorsing Wally World paint, just saying it did fit. Since then I've upgraded guns and only buy paint at the field. Gotta support your field.

aright well i just got back from my first time playing with my PMI EVO and i got mixed feelings. the gun was totally sweet when it worked, and really accurate compared to those ****ty rentals (i was very suprised by the accuracy with a ****ty stock barrel) but my gun kept getting ****ed up.
first i had to set up the regulator, but at the same time my battery was drained and i didnt know it so i thought the reg was ****ed. finally i changed the battery and it was fine for two rounds and then stopped again. at this point i really dont know what was wrong, i changed the battery again and it worked pretty much fine past then.
i dunno it sucked though i played for 6 hours and probably went 10 rounds total...
as for ball matching, i bought a random case and got lucky i guess. it worked fine, no ball breaking the entire time i think.

whatever youd be kind of pissed if you went and played paintball for 4 hours, dropped $100 and had to spend 2 hours fixing your gun.

It's understandable to be frustrated but know that most guns don't shoot perfect out of the box. Alright, none that I've had so far. They need cleaning and lubing, some TLC and getting them dialed in. It also sounds like you found your main problem. Batteries. Batteries are the achilles heal of a electric gun. Some guns will drain the battery even when turned off so disconnect the battery if you think it's a prob. And keep a fresh Duracell handy.

yeah ok fair enough. i mean im pretty new to the sport so partially i was frustrated at the fact that none of the guys at the place i was at were really helping. it was pretty wack...i literally said "i dont know anything about paintball guns can you help?" and theyd be like "ok" and turn around and start talking to their friends. i even paid their tech $5 to look at my gun and all he did was fill up the tank. i was really more pissed at the staff there than my gun i guess, especially since if they had helped me it wouldve been fixed probably in like a half hour.

yeah, i know what you mean (abou the staff). next time, try finding someone not on the staff thats hanging out there (not getting ready for a game, cuz then you might just piss em off) and ask for some help. ive done it several times. those people are much more helpful cuz theyre generally happy to see kids having fun ballin. oh yeah, and always be polite.

Yea, that really sucks that nobody would help you. I always carry a small tool kit with me and try to help out when needed. If nothing else I always have the right allen wrench or tiny screwdriver somebody needs.

nah the thing is most of the people at the field were stupid 12 year old assholes with DM6s and other $1000 setups. Theyd be like sitting at a table walking their triggers at a million miles an hour and id try to ask for help and theyd just like snear and be like "go ask the field tech." i mean, the guys there who were by far the chillest were the guys who were rentals who were playing in my walk in group.
i guess maybe in the end im happy it ended up like that though, at least i learned a little lesson is self reliance right?
now im a little worried about my reg tho, because i was told to run it at 300-400 and so i set it at that but after a few rounds the reg pressure had dropped to like 200, but the gun still worked fine so i didnt touch it. what do you guys think? should i try to bring the reg back up or dont fix something thats not broken?

Scorch is the best Wal*Mart paint hands-down. Good rec ball and MAYBE practice paint.

I hate that your field had a bunch of 12 year olds whose parents buy all their ****. I can't stand kids like that. As far as the reg goes-i told you what I have read many times before, so I'm pretty sure that is right. Did you make sure you charged the batter for the full time that you are supposed to? I always leave my gun plugged in.
You also commented on paying all of that money and only getting to play like 10 rounds or so. We've all been there and done that. That's just part of paintball, but next time make sure you have all of your allen wrenches and stuff with you.

Thank god that the only rich people at Ft. Campbell are the people who don't have kids. The one kid that plays at Ft. Campbell Paintball that has something better than a Spyder is a kid (13 years at the most, he has a yellow Ion) whose dad is one of the coolest people I have met, so he's cool too, helps people and stuff.
We don't have those rich snobby kids here, so no one under the age of 16 has a better gun than an Ion. They might have a mil-sim gun or an A5, but that's just about it, besides Kevin, who has an Angel, except he's had 5 years of Paintball experience and used to own a 98c before his Angel.
SO yeah. that's my speech.

i had all my allen wrenches, i just didnt know what to do with em lol. i think it probably comes down to i didnt charge my gun enough, but still coulda been a quick fix and way less frustrating.
