to RMA or not to RMA?

so i just got a new PMI EVO and ive used (sort of) it twice. both times it didnt really work. heres the deal:

ill shoot it a few times, might work fine. then i shoot it again and i get a lot of gas out and the gun uncocks itself. sometimes when its cocked ill pull the trigger like 5 or 6 times before it even shoots. guy at the field said it was something wrong with the sear and that i would have to send it back. so i called PMI twice and they said two completely different things:

first solution: take off the battery, place something metal between the contacts to "reset" the board. im not sure if it work, but my shot counter never reset so i assume it did nothing. as of now i can pull back and shoot the bolt every time, but as soon as i put gas into it i get the above problem.

second solution: stick the highest velocity spring (red spring) into it and it should work fine.

honestly to me, both seem like they wont work and for me to test it i have to go all the way out to queens (not THAT far, but a pain in the ass just to test it). now PMI wants ME to pay for shipping the gun back to them, even though it never worked. i asked them why and the guys just like "we have the best warranty in the paintball industry, no one else even pays to ship it back to you." seems a bit ridiculous that i have to spend another $20 on this gun, even though it never worked right. i think ill never buy another PMI, and if i could id just get rid of this one and get an ion, which i shoulda done in the first place.

I like my piranha, the only time it broke on me was when I was trying to custom-mod it. I was able to fix it right away though.

lol......that reminds me of all the times i went out and played with my friends......id air my 98 custom up, cock it and shoot a few balls to make sure it was in shooting order, and sit and wait for a half an hor for my buddies to get their spyders and spyder clones to work right, and some never did.....all i can tell you is try to replace the o-rings once....my friends guns did the same thing....

Well, if you won't go try the spring idea then how can you complain? Say what ya want to about PMI, but they do have the best customer service. Nobody is gonna pay for the shipping.
I say make sure it is lubed properly, make sure there is nothing jammed in the reg or valve area that could be blocking air flow and try the red spring. Yes it sucks that your gun did not work correctly out of the box, but that happens to high end guns too.

what do you mean how can i complain? i dont think it is ridiculous to ask for a gun to work out of the box, and i certainly dont think its ridiculous for me to ask for a gun to work after 3+hours of trying to fix it. the problem seems to be with the sear not getting enough power for whatever reason, yet PMI is giving me their fixall solution over the phone. im going to try their spring idea, but the problem is that i dont have an air source at my house. this means i have to go all the way to the field and pay just to test their idea. if it doesnt work that means even more money thrown away into this gun. it is lubed properly btw.

all im thinking now is i shouldve waited a few weeks and saved more and bought an ion.
