newbie

sup guys, just got into the sport/hobbie, just this past week. had some extra change, so me and a handful of friends all got guns.

i bought a used 98 custom(w/ RT), with a cp barrel already with it. a 20oz, and invision mask.

but since i'm new to the sport, i'll need a few questions answered if you guys don't mind.

1.) what is the best way to clean my mask? is it safe for me to dump the whole thing in water, or should i take the goggles out. i've got some paint stuck in it at the bottom, and can't seem to get it out.

2.) do any of you ever play in the woods? we did this, since it was our first time with pb guns, and had no real experience. but it was still fun.

3.) why do most players remove the visor from their masks?

4.) how long does a auto feeders battery life usually last? and is it worth it for some one just starting out? my vl 200, seems to be working fine, since i'm not spittin that many balls per second.

well, i'm pretty sure thats enough for now, but i've got a ton of questions i can't seem to remember right now. thanks in advance to anyone who can tackle this one for me.

1.)I just paper towels and water. I don't clean it all to much though, I have been gogged like twice.

2.)Yes, the term is "woodsball". It is fun, but there are more people playing speedball so it is easier to find someone to play against.

3.)I remover it because I do not like the look.

4.)I would not know, I do not have an electronically fed hopper.

1. after a day of pb, i take all of my stuff and spray it down with a hose so the washing machine doesnt have to do much of the work. i hose down my invisions all the time and i have had no problems
2. i dont play woods
3.for me, a small profile + i dont like the look of a visor on my invisions anyway
4. depends on the hopper. for your tippmann, get a 12v veiwloader revolution or empire reloader 2. do not get a vl quantum, waste of money. if you plan to upgrade to a better gun in the future, then get a nice hopper like a halo b, empire b, or vl vlocity

1. windex and paper towels
2. I do mostly woods ball with friends in my woods.
3. Because they don't like the way it looks.
4. They usually last 20,000 balls.

1) Windex and paper towels.
2) It is called woodsball. It is exciting, but it is nothing compared to speedball.
3) I don't like the appearance of the visors on my mask.
4) Depends on the hopper.

I wouldn't use Windex unless your lense is hashed.. Most mask manufactures recomend warm water and cotton cloths. Paper towels and synthetics can scratch it. But if the lense isn't in good shape probably won't matter. I just take my lense out and run warm water over it. Then I wipe it down with a clean cotton cloth. Use water and cotton to clean on the field. Don't listen to these guys tell you woodsball isn't as fun. : ) It's a blast! I like my visor. Keeps the sun out of my eyes so people can't sneak up on me. And since you have a 98c I would go with a cyclone loader for it. No batteries and a super low profile. Of course you can't take it to another gun if you decided you want a gun for say speedball..

thanks for the really good advice guys. paintballin34, thanks for that short tutorial on cleaning of lenses.. too bad invisions lenses are a ***** to take out. and yes, woodsball is fun as hell. haven't played speedball yet, but i'm pretty sure i'll enjoy that as well.

some more questions for you guys though.

1.) i've a 20oz that i'm primarily usisng, and a 14oz that came with my gun. how long can i let a co2 tank sit around, with out using it? the 14oz that is.

2.) my gun has some good features on it already.. should i add some more like an expansion chamber, and new barrel(already came with a CP .689, 12" barrel)? or should i play this one out, and then upgrade my gun, and hook that up?

my gun currently has, an response trigger, a cp 12" barrel(single), a sealed bolt system, and a double trigger.

3.) i've heard of having to lube a gun, but which part exactly do i need to lube?

4.) can someone please tell me the line of tippmanns, from worst to best? i'm thinking of sticking to mainly woodsball, since its free(sometimes) and lasts a lot longer.

thanks again guys. i'll post my questions later =]

1. a co2 tank will last as long as you want it to. it doesnt go bad
2. i have a buddy with the identical setup as you and it works great for him. play a little longer and see where you think you gun can perform better. you can always spend the money on gear too
3. i had a tippmann but not for that long, im pretty sure you have to lube any part that creates friction or any o-ring. so the bolt will definitely need it as might some other parts
4. if you want used, there's the carbine which isnt made anymore but you can find for cheap, then theres the model 98 which also isnt being made anymore. then the 98 custom. the 98 custom with an RT would be next. then the custom pro which has a few upgrades like a drop forward, double trigger, longer barrel etc. then theres the A5 which is a beast. theyre offered in the same packages as the customs (stock, w/ upgrades etc.) If you want to tear through brush like its nothing get an A5. You can get one with an RT for around $290 if im not mistaken.

Just do standard maintenance on your gun. After a day of play, take it apart (at home so you won't lose pieces on the field) and clean all pieces involved in the action of the gun.

As far as woodsball goes, it's a load of fun. Some prefer woods, some prefer speed. Play both, or whichever suits YOU, not what others tell you what to and what not to play.
